3ds Version looks ridiculously good for handheld, it's about on par with Peace Walker.

But let's not kid ourselves here, PS2 version is much smoother with zero aliasing.

Watch the video.  It has normal mapping, an effect PSP couldn't even dream of actually doing. Hell, it's an effect PS2 can't even pull off.  Only Wii and Xbox ever did it for that generation's class of hardware.

The only thing that looks "about on par with Peace Walker" is the geometry.  Textures and effects are well beyond PSP.  And the PS2 version looks smoother in stills because of post-processing blur, the 3DS render literally has to be sharper because it's running in stereoscopic 3D.

3DS looks so good that it forces me to buy a NDS 3rd time in this generation. And "Naked Sample" looks amazing, now if only it could maintain atleast the same control content that the PSP versions seem to lack (mentioned by d21lewis).

lmao peace walker is one of if not the best looking game I've seen on PSP, it isn't a bad as you make it seem.. the 3DS isn't showing visuals a generation beyond PSP.. but the screens show slightly better visuals than what the PSP has shown.. we don't know the specs so, we can only speculate.

mM

The PS2 is a bit better, but considering how the 3DS version is the lst generation of 3DS software and the fact that the resolution will be smaller makes up for it.

Peace Walker *does* look great, and no I wouldn't say MGS3D is a "generation beyond PSP" or anything.  But then, I'd also say the visuals here are quite a bit better than "just slightly", it's literally doing effects that PSP (and even PS2) can't, it's textures are clearly better and  there's no nasty PSP dithering either btw.  This isn't a slight improvement, it's clear step up (like going from DC to GC) and considering it's part of a (clearly rushed) 3DS pre-launch demo (while PW is a full game and the end result of 6 years of PSP R&D experience at KojiPro) that's pretty amazing.

For one, I do own Peace Walker, I just havent bothered to update my game collection. I don't waste my life on this forum.

If you really want to know, my little brother owns a DS/Wii and I play them all the time when I visit him. But then again, what does this have to do with anything ? Stop tring to e-bully me, I don't give a shit about it.

I haven't seen the 3ds running in motion (and pretty much nobody here has, so what's the point ?), but those screenshots certainly aren't even close to the ps2 version.

Reminder to have a look at it in motion:

Actually, in several respects they're considerably better than the PS2 version. Textures are much nicer, Snake's character model is considerably more detailed, and there's the aforementioned normal mapping. Environments and characters both look better in the 3DS version.

If you applied a blur filter, they'd be pretty close.  Well, except the 3DS version has normal mapping. :P
