Forums - Nintendo - Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Visuals Yay or Nay?

Thread might be broken, it is always highlighted even after no one posts in here.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Well they said that the gameplay is almost done and the graphics still need polish. That first pic Soriku posted above looks fantastic. You can really see the paint-like effect in the distance. Imagine it when it's all done, it'll be awesome!

Something more noticeable in this shot than in others (just right click, View Image):

Notice how when you look into the distance, the watercolor effect becomes more and more pronounced, until it's like the background actually is a painted world? That's pretty cool.

Actually yeah, though I think it's more pronounced in these screens (the mountain and the clouds):

Jesus, in WW you played a cartoon, now you play a painting?? Very very cool!

they look nice, I expect they'll look awesome when the game releases.

I am a yay for the art style but the graphics are not quite there yet. The environment looks bland (like something out of DQ VIII) and the trees are just plain terrible. But I'm confident the final product will be up to Zelda standard.

The trees are utterly horrible. But Nitnendo will fix it all, don't you worry.

If it makes you feel better about the trees - when viewed from beneath, like they are for most of the game, you'll notice that the leaves are rendered in such a way that when you loo at the ksy past them, they look as if they're being eaten away by the light, which is a common visual motif in post-impressionism.

It's small consolation, but it's a very, very nice touch.

The game is looking very meh. Gameplay didn't look much better either.

Can't say I was looking forward to it before the conference and well that didn't change at all. Everything looks like a step down from Twilight Princess and even that wasn't so great.

Is your only experience of the game from the conference?
