What is this an English essay?

That was what I really believe to be true.

It was supposed to be an image on someone hitting a nail on the head.

ohhh haha. I thought that was supposed to be some remark about plagiarism or something. Silly me :P

When you think of it, Nintendo should aim to at least buy a significant amount of shares off some of the main developers, or make even more good second parties.

At least this gives them some more leverage with the gamer games, kind of like Rare in the N64 days.

That was the strategy during the  Yamauchi days. The second party studios that I know of include Rare, Silicon Knights, and Left Field,  We know what happened to Rare. Left field did not want follow Nintendo's practices and Silicon Knights left. Now Nintendo is only working with proven partners and are not interested in that old second party system. I probably summed this up badly but you can use google to find Iawata's stance on aquiring second party studios.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

3rd parties are just mad because Nintendo have strong enough 1st party that they don'thave to be reliant on 3rd parties and therefore don't have to bribe 3rd parties to make games for them

Although I dislike conspiracy theories, facts suggest that there is a hostile climate towards Nintendo. Game developers, Analysts and the media all treat the wii as the kid who's not invited to the party, but shows up anyway and ruins it for everyone.

The media can't help it as the vast majority of the people who read these sites/mags are "Hardcore" teenagers. The Analysts, well I think those who posted before me have described them well enough (Anals was the best).

Software developers though still remain a puzzle for me. How can a company ignore a market of more then 70 million customers? One explanation is that the started to believe there own bullshit about wii owners not buying any games and wiis gathering dust. Of course vgchartz (and the NPD reports) prove this wrong. The wii has a healthy attach rate and all the truly AA titles sell like hotcakes.

Even with Nintendo making them look like Bedroom coders (no offense I have great respect for these guys) there's a ton of money to be made here and no true businesman can ignore it.

It's not a conspiracy as much as a mass mindset that goes against what the mainstream actually likes (Nintendo isn't even immune to this, from the lost share of the N64 to Wii Music). It's why the comic book industry didn't recover from the mid 90s crash. They are also in a mindset that is not shared by those who made comics so big before the crash.

I'll probably write a sarcastic thread about Nintendo's E3, even if it's the greatest ever since it's what I do.

*sigh* I knew this was gonna happen, but screw it. Looking back at when I join VGChartz, I have become disgruntled. The industry I loved to know more about is revealed to be a bunch of assholes. Knowledge does bring you sorrow sometimes.

Well said. I agree with this very much.

@Metallicube
Well written, but I'm going to disagree. Though there is some merit to what's being said. Curing the NES/Sega, SNES/Genesis days Nintendo still had the majority support even in spite of Nintendo level games. Their games still sold tons in market perspective. That didn't stop any of the 3rd parties to jump to the competition. They stayed on those systems regardless of Nintendo and regardless that SMS and Genesis(from what I hear) are superior hardware.

The reason was back then these third parties were interested in the games and the money. This has changed. Sony did a masterful job starting with the PS1 era or possibly it was moving in this direction anyways, but the companies were more focused on the prestige of making games. I've noticed this generation that many developers and publishers are constantly hyping comments along the lines of "pushing the system to the max"

The Wii is not a prestige machine. It's the cheapest, it's the weakest and has the worst bad rap around. Putting DMC4/5 on the Wii would essentially be the effect of being ridiculed by peers. Put on top of that, that marketers can make assumptions that making game X will bring in X sales. They feel safe in throwing X budget at the game(though this can fail as in the case of Bayonette). So you have companies that want prestige and the assumption of known sales.

Nintendo isn't Nintendo's worst enemy. That's just hyperbole to justify the continued reasoning to make games for the purpose of prestige. Though no one in the industry want's to admit they make games for prestige than the fun of making good games.

At least there will always be exception. Thank goodness of companies like Square Enix(you read it) at least they have been honest about their company goals since the N64 days.

I really suggest readers to read the Comic Speculator Market.
