Nintendo - Nintendo hate? - View Post

Although I dislike conspiracy theories, facts suggest that there is a hostile climate towards Nintendo. Game developers, Analysts and the media all treat the wii as the kid who's not invited to the party, but shows up anyway and ruins it for everyone.

The media can't help it as the vast majority of the people who read these sites/mags are "Hardcore" teenagers. The Analysts, well I think those who posted before me have described them well enough (Anals was the best).

Software developers though still remain a puzzle for me. How can a company ignore a market of more then 70 million customers? One explanation is that the started to believe there own bullshit about wii owners not buying any games and wiis gathering dust. Of course vgchartz (and the NPD reports) prove this wrong. The wii has a healthy attach rate and all the truly AA titles sell like hotcakes.

Even with Nintendo making them look like Bedroom coders (no offense I have great respect for these guys) there's a ton of money to be made here and no true businesman can ignore it.

It's not a conspiracy as much as a mass mindset that goes against what the mainstream actually likes (Nintendo isn't even immune to this, from the lost share of the N64 to Wii Music). It's why the comic book industry didn't recover from the mid 90s crash. They are also in a mindset that is not shared by those who made comics so big before the crash.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
