On the optimistic side of my expectations I would say that the 3DS could be capable of playing Gamecube or Wii games in full 3D; which would require the system to be Nintendo’s most powerful system to date, but it would still fall far short of being able to play an XBox 360 or PS3 game. For Nintendo (and many third party publishers) this level of processing power makes sense because they could port several older games a year for several years at limited cost to increase revenues.

I say this about once every six or eight months, but I'll do it again now:

If they showed me a handheld Wind Waker, my head would explode.

I am one of those who bitches about remakes and ports that donn't add anything to the experience, but that? I'd make an exception.

And the delusions of GC graphics continue to persist.

It'll be powerful, but not ps360 powerful..probably not even wii powerful, well, maybe wii powerful..but only very slightly so.

The PSP has almost-PS2-quality graphics, and it came out how many years ago?  Are you aware how long ago that is in technological terms?  Gamecube is on the lower end of what they could feasibly do.

This is true, I don't understand the whole 'It's Nintendo, it'll have weak hardware' mentality.. Gamecube tech will be 10 years old, perhaps older when you consider what it was based on..

Also IF the 3DS has two 3D screens, not likely but possible, it will have a higher total resolution than the iPhone 4, iPad and Wii. It'll be 0.82mp, 720p is 0.92mp. That kind of output would need serious power. (Again that is unlikely) but you can see that power will be needed, one 3D screen or two.
