Forums - Gaming - Wii Party is the answer to Natal/Move?

I was reading another thread before, and it mentioned that in terms of the Move, people somehow unsatisfied with the Wii's motion controls probably won't pay $250-$350 to try MotionControls on the PS3. In order for the PS3 or 360 to really cause an impact with these things, they need first party software, or a killer app that puts their device above the rest.

Then I thought about Wii Party. I don't know if the Vitality Sensor will be compatible with it, put I'm pretty sure Wii Motion Plus will be. However, WM+ isn't the point of this thread, but the actual game itself. It is supposed to have 80+ minigames.

I figure what Nintendo is trying to do here is provide an "anything you can do, I can do better" game. I don't know what minigames will be included, or if it will remain true to the Mario Party formula with a board game related style. I'm assuming that there will be some overlap with what some Move games will provide and what WiiParty will.

With this many minigames inside WP (80+) it seems like a motion control blowout where any conceiveable ideas that consumers would want MC for in a videogame is there. Do not forget Wii Sports & Resort too.

Natal's hook can be the graphics+"controllerless control", but it will be really hard for the Move to have a hook besides the graphics. I'm not trying to bash either one, but I want to know what they will need to differentiate themselves based on what they have, and what Wii Party is making available.

WM was the answer to Move and Natal and besides that, I think Nintendo is going to use the Vitality Sensor to provide a new distinction between Wii and it's competitors. It's all about providing something different, new and unique with Nintendo and the Wii Vitality Sensor will allow Nintendo to craft a gaming experience that is completely unique.

differentiation may be the reason behind Iwata saying that Wii Party use the Wii Remote's unique capabilities to it's fullest (the hide and seek game for example, which the Move and obviously Natal cannot do). So it's no all about the motion controls, but the unique device that the Wii Remote is.

That again, is differentiation, and Nintendo will continue to try to position the Wii as 'different'.

Nintendo will always market the Wii as a unique gaming system. I wouldn't say Wii Party is the answer to the HD platforms motion controls, just as a companion title to WS/R.

This, but i do see where your coming from TC. Maybe 3rd party devs will get some ideas from the various mini games in Wii Party. This could make for some unique games for the wii and could help to differentiate itself from the PSmove.

Assuming Natal works as it should, it will be more difficult to compete with, although the vitality sensor could help here.

Btw does anyone have any info as to how the Vitality sensor works and what it will be used for ???

In my opinion Twilight Princess is better than Ocarina of t... * gets shot *

Very much this. I think that Wii Party is another evergreen title for the expanded audience. Nintendo is always trying to create new experiences to encourage more people to play games and be unique from their competitors.

well, if sony makes a party game, yeah, anything they do, nin can do better

I don't know if it's the answer to Natal and Move, but it'll probably outsell both of them.

No... it's the answer to "how can Nintendo make even MORE money"?

And nothing else.

Also, to add to my previous post.

Nintendo is a videogame company. They make videogames. They aren't a corporation that makes a lot of different things like Sony and Microsoft. They will always make something that they believe will be profitable.
