Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is no longer lazy, like IGN said so.

@smeags IGN would never do that for a Wii game, true or not

I know, but after their first awful "Get over it Fanboy." article, they are capable of anything.

I still roll my eyes when they actually made a thread comparing Mass Effect 2 to Uncharted 2.

Didnt think they ever where

I don't know why IGN always insists that Nintendo is lazy. Nintendo is the one who is doing most of the work, while third party developers are really not doing much at all for the Wii.

They decided effort can only be defined by spending a lot of time and money on a game (or the things they think take a lot of time and money).

From what I've seen this gen, it's pretty simple to throw money at a game. It doesn't replace talent.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I just wish that more people would realize that a game doesn't have to have a big budget or be flashly to be considered superior quality. I couldn't stand it last year when IGN was ranting about Nintendo being lazy because they made the New Super Mario Bros. Wii the way they did. It's third party developers they should be going after, since they haven't really been putting much quality effort towards their Wii games, and this also puts more pressure on Nintendo, who already gets blamed for a lot of things that is not their fault.

Music formats do not equal effort. It can take a hell of a lot of work to make good original midi music. It's about what the artist does, not the tools they use.

I should know, I've been doing thing in my comic with less effort, but that was me, not the tools I used.

And just adding voice acting doesn't mean more effort either. I hope most of us know of games with sloppy voice acting (all of them *rimshot*).

I definitely agree. Some of the music from old games is amazing despite being a lot worse in term of audio quality. Heck, the Genesis didn't have the best sound card and the music from the Sonic games were some of the best for it's time.

IGN means I GRRRR Nintendo.

Hahahaha, good one!

Or the Phantasy Star games.

About half the space shooters. Even Zero Wing had great music converted from the arcade.

In an effort to be more EPIC!!!!!, game soundtracks start to blend and sound the same. This is the reason why I can remember simple "bleeps and bloops" (if you will) from games like Sonic, Metroid, Mario,Rygar, and the little more advanced FF7 and Zelda, but cannot remember much else from this gen except the Gears theme, and....and.....shoot I can't remember anything else!

It really is a shame that music took the back seat. It is just like in wrestling- the best theme song can even make the worst/tame/boring wrestler shine. Poor games can live on through standout tracks. Can anyone honestly say they remember Hot Rod on the Commodore 64? No, but even they can't neglect the awesome in its soundtrack.

But Malstrom thinks that as well, therefore it's wrong.

LOL Malstrom has an ego problem, but I've found that he is often right more than wrong. I agree with him here, simple, classic tracks are the most endearing.
