If that's true, then they have lost at least me as a customer.
Download only is a no-go for me.
Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/
VG$ lol!
OT: I'll wait for E3. Lots of people jump on this kind of thread again.

Ohhh, so many people here are so short sited.
Yess, the PSP go failed, but trust me when I say that it was NOT because it was download only.
The idea of Sony's next portable system having physical games is so backwards, don't even get me started.
Ludites!
don't fear evolving tech people, it just makes you look stubborn.
with the proper advertising and more importantly, the features (which the psp go did not have) ala dual analogues, touch screen, performance boost, microphone, 3g etc, a download only device would succeed on a massive level for Sony.
Now saying that the PS4 should be download only is another thing entirely, but when the system is portable, its a no-brainer!
oh man this is the worst thing they could do to the PSP-2.. ugh it's such a shame! why Sony why?!
| Silver-Tiger said: Guys, most of the comments on this thread are rather funny. You think if the PSP2 is download-only, it will fail miserably? This must also be the reason why the iPhone failed so miserably... oh wait.... PSP Go failed because it was an overpriced, bad-supported, ugly piece of Sh.., that's why it failed. |
It's not the system that was overpriced but games as well.
iPhone is vastly different business-model, that accounts for ~$300-500M last year and growing revenue in gaming (numbers differ depending on the source you choose to believe) versus ~1,3B last year made on PSP and decreasing. If they are to follow iPhone model it's gonna be a drastic change that will not only force them to rethink their target demography, but first of all will result in decreased revenue with all consequences for Sony such as deceased royalties from game sales, so they need to make profitable from day one hardware, since currently they aren't in the situation when they could handle big loses. Though scenario not out of possiblity imo, it seems in current situation PSP got nothing to lose.
It excites me atleast. I always hated the thought of having to carry the PSP games with me, so I cracked my PSP. I would hop on the GO but it costs a little to much atm... so cost is the problem from what I'm seeing.
Lol, I though Sony would be at least a little inteligent after the megaflop known as PSPGo and abandon Digital Distribution, but no, they surprised me this time with their stupidness.

Above: still the best game of the year.
Well, they wont go on the Go model alone, so Im betting that the PSPhone rumors are correct if they go download only. I just hopa that they price it right and get tons of software support for it...
