Please ignore this thread if you were already aware of this fact. I know it should have probably been on the official citation thread on this site but i must admit i don't remember actually seeing it mentioned there.

I was trying to find out Super Mario galaxy 2's all-time ranking on Meta (i was unsuccessful) but whilst surfing the site it had a ranking list of all Mario games. There was a column with sales numbers for each game and the source given for those sales was.....    VG CHARTZ! Best official recognition of this site so far? I think it is. 

Yeah vgchartz is making a name for itself!  Won't be long before they hit mainstream (in terms of gaming websites that is)

The site must be being taken seriously now if it is mentioned as a source on meta!
