Forums - Gaming - To Wii owners: Why haven't you bought an HD console yet?

Expense is the main reason, but to be honest if I had more money I would spend it on more Wii games first.

Neither of the consoles has an interesting enough library for me to consider buying them at their current prices, the X360 barely has 10 games I am interested in, the PS3 probably double that, many of them the odd unique PSN games.

I have zero interest in their multimedia capabilities, and the fact they are HD means nothing to me considering I game on a 13" 'portable' CRT, and on occasion when I transport the console downstairs it's a 27" CRT... both are SD and neither will be replaced until they break. (For my bedroom one I think I would probably go up to 20".... the living room won't fit much bigger than what is currently there, if the screen goes right up to the edges then a 32" might fit (current TV has speakers either side of the screen)

You must have better eyes than me, I recently came across a 13 inch TV and I felt as though I was watching TV through the wrong end of a pair of binoculars.

because i am too dumb to graduate from Wii to HD

I had a Wii from launch, and bought a PS3 about 3 or 4 months ago. I have been playing the PS3 more lately, although when galaxy 2 comes out the Wii will get some attention.

Bet With routsounmanman: By the end of Q1 2008 Capcom WONT have announced a RE5 Wii Edition OR a new RE (classic gameplay) for the Wii (WON)

Money. There are plenty of games I'd love an X360 and/or PS3 for, but I can't afford all of that. I've spent $20 on gaming in the last year and a half. I'm a stereotypical poor college student, I suppose.

I just bought a HDTV, so before lst month those consoles were not even an option.
Add that both are still expensive (I will not buy a gimped 360), and I don't have enough time to spend playing the games I already have for Wii.
There are a few games that I would like to try/play but they are not enough to consider a purchase yet, maybe in the 2011 holyday season the prices and games will be good for me.

I've already taken out a loan to get another console. I'll be playing my ps3 in no0 time.

It's worse playing widescreen DVDs...the damn thing goes letterbox so there is about 1.5 inches cut off each of top and bottom (which in terms of diagonal size I think cuts it down to 11-12 inch)

I am less than 2 metres from the TV though, my bedroom is about 2.5m at it's widest point (it's an L-shaped room, the main bit is about 1.5*3m... with an alcove that is about 1*1m)

Most of my friends have PS3s and my brother has a 360 so I can play the PS3/360 exclusive titles with them. Also I have a limited budget, so I can only afford 1 console

I have a PC, and Wii+PC is a perfect combination to me. Most of the Mutiplatform catalogue is available via Steam, at a far better resolution. The price of the games on PC is far less than a 70€ HDtwins game.

Somehow, since I bought lately a HDTV, I intend to buy a PS3 in the near future for Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicle and all the good JRPG that were praised both by critics and the feedback from the guys over this site. But I'll buy the games secondhand ^^. Oh, and I want to play WipeoutHD !

Not a reason to bother with one. I have way more than enough Wii and DS games with more on the way to keep me busy. Only a few of the HD games appeal to me anyways and they are not appealing enough for me to bother with at the current prices for games and a console, if ever. I could go one for a few paragraphs about why I do not have one, but I do not see the need to risk being banned for my reasons.
