Forums - Sales - Worldwide Weekly Sales (May 15) - So Low!

How come sales are so low? Wii did not get a boost in NA from the new Black Wii & WSR bundle? XB360 under 100,000? Yikes!

Bah!

Its similar to last week.

PS3 > Wii in Japan is surprising

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

The Wii just doesn't have enough games to keep pushing the momentum. 360/PS3 are getting great games like Red Dead Redemption, Final Fantasy XIII, Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, and Alan Wake.

The Wii hasn't really had much all year other than MH3, Red Steel 2, and a few other budget games like Endless Ocean, Trauma Team, and No More Heroes 2. Lack of 3rd party effort, along with a lack of good 1st party titles is really stalling the Wii right now. In my mind, the Wii will probably be a 5 year console cycle. From this perspective, they just need to keep things rolling for another 1.5 years. If things get hot for the Wii again, then they can delay their next console and perhaps get a 6th year out of the Wii. However, the Wii is aging fast and the big budget gaming companies have largely passed the Wii by. Epic Mickey and Nba Jam are some of the only exceptions I can think of right now.

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Every single nintendo console, winning or losing had a 5 year cycle. Nothing new.

Or are you implying that the wii will stop selling after its 5th birthday?

No More Heroes is a budget game! You learn something new every day.

If you think this week is bad, hold on to your seatbelts! 360 is gonna go sub 60ks, PS3 sub 100k, Wii sub 140k pretty soon.

Every Nintendo console has suffered from a relatively poor relationship with third parties. They just don't like having to compete with Nintendo's 1st party mega-blockbusters.

Also, before everyone jumps on the ol' "Wii is domed" bandwagon, note that:
(A) It's still outselling its rivals despite a lack of big hardware pushers recently.
(B) People were saying the same thing about it last year, yet it had the biggest Xmas season in history.
(C) Upcoming titles like Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Other M, Wii Relax/Party, and Zelda Wii should restore and maintain some momentum.

(D) It's summer. Things are always slow.

There is a lack of quality games for the Wii at the moment, but not only from Nintendo. 3rd parties have not much released lately, besides NMH, MH3 and RS2. SMG2 is ready to go with Metroid following soon.

@Gojimaster: you forgot DQX, The Last Story and Xenoblade. These games should move some hardware, especially in Japan.

is the ps3 stock problem very serious?. or is not that bad?.

it's a sign of the times.
