Mainstream Mario:

Galaxy 2 > Galaxy 1 > Bros.3 > World > 64 > Lost levels > Bros. > Bros.2 > Sunshine

I think it is indeed safe to say that it's the best Mario game ever. I just think that they should have kept the Ice Flower from the first Galaxy game, though.

You dug up an old thread. I seem to love every mario game when the next one comes out, but  personally Super Mario World will always be the best. 

I love it. I beat the whole game, but can't complete the very, very final level. It's insanely hard! :O

I beat the last level but it was like you said, insanely hard. The hardest part I'd have to say was the Hammer Brothers at the end. I hardly ever get frustrated at video games but that really frustrated me!

@opa opa im with you Mario 3 is the best ever. Galaxy 2 is the best 3d by far.

Yeah, those Hammer Bros. are horrible! :o I really can't stand not having that final star, so I'll probably go back eventually and try 'till my fingers bleed.
