Forums - Sony Discussion - Square Enix Is The Modern Definition Of Fool’s Gold

he actually said that because it sold most in Japan that means that exclusives sell better??? It being exclusive means nothing, it is a cultural phenomenon in Japan. By the same token i can say it's the lowest selling FF since FF4 in Japan, and that is also a fact. Both are terribly misleading.

Tekken not selling anymore has nothing to do with it being multiplat, nobody wanted tekken anymore. It used to be popular, but popularity fades and Tekken hasn't changed all that much since the PS1 days. You can say this about so many games, Virtua Fighter used to be a million seller in Japan, and VF4 sold 750k in Japan, then VF5 can't even break 100k.

There are examples of games doing better because they are exclusive, but that is difficult and risky. The gamecube had some games like that, but that doesn't mean you should start making tons of exclusives. There were far more examples of games that would have sold better as multiplatform.

The SE brandname is irrevocably tarnished nowadays...
but they know where the money is. How many Xbox360s did their games alone help sell in Japan? At least 100k.

You must remember that Japan has a bias to the 360 which is why the PS3 version of the game remained exclusive in Japan. Microsoft had to do some clever work to make the Japanese believe to even had to buy 360's in the first place. It isn't exactly Microsofts fault that Japan has made it clear that they will support the home business (Sony/Nintendo) over the outsiders no matter how close in value no matter how similar in value they are. Microsoft had the better price, but that didn't matter to them.

Funny thing is, they said they brought FFXIII to the 360 to "expand the series in the West"....and the PS3 version outsold it..in the West

You're acting like the 360's sales were horrible or something.

Square Enix are whore's riddled with STD's.

XIII is full of bad gameplay, story, plot and dialog screw ups.

If they would really wait until the PS3 version of FFV13 is finished and shipped and put into the market so that AFTER they start work for the Xbopx36 version, then I wouldn't mind because the problem would resolve itself. It would be funny to see them trying to port that.

But the fact is that they will not do a thing like this, this will result in delays and taking decisions to balance the versions, not allowing the PS3 version to take advantage of the capabilities of the monster it is meant to be played in.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

This! Its too bad they keep pandering to those obsolete Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii consoles. They really ought to port it to the monster which is the PC.

Tease.

All this is happened because Square-Enix has committed "Public Sudoku"!

See, Square-Enix needs to repent.  Because they have done games on the XBox system, they are domed!

Can I use the logic of 'the x platform sold so much better than the y platform, so the port wasn't really justified' here? Like Bioshock, NG:Sigma2, Eternal Sonata, and Lost Planet. Sure, FFXIII wasn't a late port, but the sales, comparitively were that of one

Lol at the reason why FF7 went to Playstation.. the Saturn had CD's and was outselling the Playstation before FF7 came.. Shiochiro Irimajiri, then president of Sega, and Tomoyuki Takechi, president of Squaresoft even grew up in the same city and are childhood friends... Sony just made a good deal for a 4 games 100 million dollar marketing deal and waving away the extra cost of 2 extra CD's.. Squaresoft back then was just about money like it is now.. and that ain't wrong..

This.  They don't have any more or less brand loyalty now than they ever had in the past.  They stayed with the Playstation brand exclusively because it was so dominate they had no reason to look elsewhere.  That was simply where the money was and that is no longer the reality.

Honestly, I feel like this thread is mostly just people pouting because they lost an exclusive.

The PC is a cheap prostitute whose vulgar dances are pushed by the amount of jewellery thrown at her.
