he didn't mean rockstar make bad games.Rockstar has always been a great dev and all those GTA's you mentioned were great but GTA4 dissappointed in a big way after San Andreas andnothing new was offered.

I thought SA was shit. The old GTAs, which I hate, are kinda like Arcade racers. GTAIV was kind of like a sim. Yes...that is a good comparison. Sim vs Arcade racer.

If you want an arcade racer in a sandbox game, you should play Saint's Row. It is a true sequel to the shittiness(imo) of the past. GTAIV was an evolution of the genre, and it's not surprising that just as many people hated it, as loved it. It's change. People hate change, make no mistake, it was a change. It was not a mistake, or bad programming, or bad ideas that caused the game to be different. I can very much promise you that those changes were intended and enjoyed by a vast many critics and gamers alike, moreso than almost any game this generation.

Yes, some hated it, but they didn't hate it because it had "nothing new" they hated it because it had "everything new." Fact of business.

I'd rather have the bonus content, quite frankly.

A tophat vs better resolution, less pop in and fewer dropped frames?

I guess some people prefer quantity over quality.

SourcE? Link? Twitter? anything?

Wow, just saw the video review and this game absolutely looks amazing! Rockstar has done it again. I don´t really know why people say GTA4 was overrated, adn therefore expect this game to be the same. Rockstar has proved, once again, to be one of the best game companies in the world. so much detail just knocks me!

Well known pixel counter on neogaf.

Its basically the same differences as GTA4. 360 has AA, 720p, better framerate, less pop in. PS3 is 640p, worse framerate and more pop in. Only differences is the PS3 now has quinicrux AA (supposedly 2x) and the 360 lacks the dithering problem of GTA4.

It shouldn't be surprising. This is the same engine tht was developed for Rockstar Table Tennis. Its had far more time for refinement on the 360. The PS3 version also supports custom soundtracks, which comes with an additional RAM penalty.

I'm gonna hold off and wait on user impressions for once, because It seems like RockStar really caters well to the professional reviewers, either by money hatting reviewers (is that even possible?) or doing something really well. I found GTAIV to be pretty drab experience on the consoles, and the multiplayer experience was frustrating. If they can get the multiplayer experience right with this one I'll be more interested. Time will tell.

It's just that simple.

I just know this game will not be allowed in my house: it's Rockstar so it's gonna be an R18 and my wife draws the line at R16s while the kids are the age they are. Otherwise it's a third person actioner I am really interested in playing.

I hope it does really well, has great legs and becomes another great franchise for R*.

One question: It's definitely adult in content, but is it mature in nature?

The day my girlfriend or wife starts to limit what I am allowed to buy, is the day I leave her.

i really like gta4. It was the best gta in my opinion. Sure San Andreas was packed with so much stuff to do but that was it. I didnt feel that the story was very good in san Andreas. I though GTA 4 had the best story out of all the GTA games. So i hope RDR has a good story and does many thing that GTA 4 did for me but maybe increase the variety of missions. Oh and i hope they actually put something thin RDR to spend money on because in the end of GTA 4 i had 1 million dollars in which i spent on $2 hot dogs :)

I'm sorry but this is funny to me.

sex>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>video games. It's that simple.

I agree with that. If that's the only way you can get it, then I see why you take it like that, but still funny to me. I didn't mean to offend you, sorry.

No offence taken. I'm not going to admit to being pussy whipped on an internet forum and then expect people not to laugh about it.

Truth is I'm such a sex god that it doesn't matter what I do there's no way my wife is going to deny herself that pleasure as a way of punishing me for anything.

Banning R18 games from the house is a self imposed restriction (like R18 movies). I see nothing particularly redeeming in a game achieving that level of potential obectionability; though with movies if it's R18 for sexual content (but not outright porn) then depending on the movie it can squeak through. So, lucky for me Red Dead is R16 here, si it is on the potential buy / play list.

having said that I do get a bit of spousal grief if the R rated : non-R rated game ratio gets too high. I figure MNR and LBP2 are going to help keep things in balance a bit.
