2006. I was looking for a website where I could find GameCube/PS2/Xbox sales. Couldn't find one. Actually, it may have been 2005. Early 2006. I know Xbox 360 was out but PS3 and Wii weren't.

Now I remember. It was just after E3 2006. I stumbled across a "VGCharts.org" and I lurked there until Sept. 2007.

I don't remember, but I think I was at another game forum, and someone was talking about this site, so I checked it out.

I was watching the Wii vs Ps3 at youtube and there was a link to nexgenwars and this site.I joined after lurking for a couple of months.And I remember it being a hell lot of fun.

I was searching google for the number of consoles sold by each company and this site came up.

I wanted to know how much each console (Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360) had sold was was sick of wikipedia's seriously outdated charts. Searched Video Game Sales Charts on Google, VG Chartz came back

I had seen various media reports saying PS3 was failing bad. Naturally as a PS2 owner I was considering making the move to PS3, but I didn't want to buy a console (esp. at the price it was at the time) only to have it die within a year or 2. So I went searching for sales information and a couple of permutations of search parameters on Google brought me here.
