Forums - Sales - Sony Projecting 15m PS3s for FY 3/2011, 35.7m PS3s Shipped LTD

It's just a random week and it doesn't mean much but check the current Others numbers for example.

There hasn't been a significant big release on the PS3 for quite a few weeks now in Others...

This week PS3 SW is up over 120% YoY...

Anyway you can't argue that with things like move bundling is going to increase on the PS3 and last year was a very quiet year in terms of bundles...( I was checking Nintendo numbers and bundled software is going to represent over 15% of the software sold in 2011, that is a lot...)

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Why do you think the 360 will be down, when everything point to them dropping pice, Natal being huge and a new hardware revision?

I don't think Natal will be huge until it has alot of break out hits. Early on all the break out hits on Wii were from Nintendo, but nonetheless Wii was only doing about what X360 is doing now in the USA. Beyond that, I think we're getting three price cuts in 2010, and X360 is already trending downwards, so I think Natal steadies demand first, and then any elevation comes in the following fiscal year. I'll probably change my mind at E3 but I don't think the market will support three motion systems when only 50-60% of people seem to prefer motion over traditional controls (judging this by Wii + music games success on PS3/X360 essentially).

You are forgetting the 360 Slim which will sell well in Japan.

I'm not saying they won't sell 15 million, but Sony's estimates haven't always been on the mark. Yes they made their estimate last year, but they didn't for several years before that. I don't think Sony has proven they are accurate based on one year.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

I'm pretty sure they met their estimate in 2008 at least for the PS3

I think it's too late for the 360 slim in Japan.

2 years ago it might have had some success.

But Sony has been able to recapture the momentum there and demonstrated that the early jrpg push of the 360 is a thing of the past...

Actually from what i recall PSP and PS2 estimates have been poor, PS3 estimates have been spot on in 2008 and 2009...
