Similar? The only thing similar there is the ATB.

VIII had a fantastic skill system, as did VII.

IV was pretty tactical and tough. VI had so much damn characters and skills that the possibilities were just huge.

Ah, and none of them made you wait more than a minute 'till you character finally decides to ACT.

That's only because the animations of each attack were longer than any other FF.

Also, the ability system is glorious.

The music is the best.

The story is bleh.

I dunno, I love this game a lot.

Not really. It's because the enemies always seemed to go twice the turns that you did.

It can only be considered flawed because it's so damn flexible and exploitable... and it's the best in the series... that or VII.

I spammed GF's for most of the game & hardly ever drew magic. It was fine & easy. You could do amazing things with it due to it being flexible but it never forced you to do those things & being the lazy dog I am....I went for the easy route.

Thats why  think its flawed its easy to break the game, it doesn't force you to adapt like XIII's (or even X's unless you decided to grind & fill the sphere grid completely for everyone) battle system did, I couldn't just spam Commando roles in that game, well I did till I got to one point in chapter 4 where I realized the paradigms weren't a gimmick.

FF8's gameplay was so goooood yet so flawed at the same time.

FF13 & FF10 had the best gameplay in the series..both polar opposites, but both ways were done excellently!

yeah, like I mean... FF8's was so unbalanced, but I found the junction/ability system of the GF's a ton of fun. And the trigger, for squall was fun :D. As well as spamming limit breaks

eh, I found FFX like pokemon, though my favorite FF, not my favorite battlesystem though good... like yes I know their all the same if you max characters, however each character goes a likely path to differentiate them for most of the game. So it's like fighting a fast thing, send out a tidus, or fighting a bird, send out a wakka! :D

FFXIII was my favoirite though, then 8. (battle system wise)

GF Spam? Damn you're patient.

I just drew a huge, enormous bunch of magic and exploited the junctions to the max.

The ending of FFX was the BEST IN VIDEOGAMING HISTORY!

Or tied with MGS3's ending.

I felt really sad, felt bad for yuna, the last cut scene was so epic & yuna's speech was inspirational!

It was the end of a classic game!!!

Bah, the ending was horrid.

Probably because I hate Yuna.

yeah thats the reason. But at the time it had a big impact!

ITs the best FF ending imo

I thought ten was the best ending too. Probably my favorite ending in videogames.

FF8 was close for me though, as well as MGS3 though, but it was a more of a wtf, these pretty halleucinating things happening yay in FF8

FF8 had an excellent ending

But surprisingly my other fav FF ending is FF12's, it was very stasifying & very well done, very very well done.

FF7 had the worst ending imo.

FF9 for me, was... well for lack of a better way to describe it. the cutest final fantasy ever. and probably the cutest game ever. ZOMG i used the word cute XD  I loved it but I can't really decide how much I like it or don't like it, It's a game for me atleast I just don't know how much I like it. It makes no sense

Eh, yeah... I didn't like sevens ending, crisis cores ending is much better, even though you knew what was going to happen (which is why, it's not quite as good, as like say you never played FF7, then you'd be like wtf) atleast I think.

I enjoyed 12's ending, and basically every single one I've played, I think, besides 7, actually XD. Mainly cause the romance is never resolved, even in the movie or dirge D: WTF

Well in 7 nothing is resolved yet, genesis is still alive after all.

I'm sorry i don't get why people call FF9 cute, its a "charming" though. I mean FF4 & FF6 are in my top 5 so technically FF9 should be in my top 5 FF's too but it just isn't lol I blame its story!

I couldn't be bothered to raw much.

But my friend spent like 3 days of FF8 jsut DRAWING magic from different places (his guide told him which magic to draw)

His FF8 experience was COMPLETELY different from mine, which is kind of a good thing too.

That's why I think they should make a RPG sequal (not dirge) by the people that made crisis core... only instead of wackem mode, a different battle system. And then make tifa and cloud get together dammit. that bugs me for some reason.

because, they look like cute little dolls :D in FF9. and steiner, jumping up and down, and clank clank that = cute or charming, i guess cute is the girl word but I don't care :D

Lol... sounds like me. I wasn't playing with a guide, though - not until my 2nd playthough.

I loved switchng people in & out in FFX

But another big reason for my love for its battle system is the AWESOME Battle Theme....definetely the best if not one of the best battle theme in a FF game imo!

Until the point where you leave the first village (4 - 5 hours in I think) & you get into a random battle & hear the BATTLE THEME with the tutorial explaining everything & then the CGI cut scene where Kimahri attacks you FFX was slightly disappointing for me, but from that moment it became awesome & eventually became my 2nd fav FF until MArch 9th 2010.

YEs they should. We need a FF7 sequel not a remake, if only more people saw that!
