Forums - Nintendo - Xenoblade - the things that bother me

"Better correlation than nothing at all."

That shows you don't understand the term. "Correlation does not equal causality" is a logic notion. Look it up.

Nope, that shows that it is better to back up your opinion with Correlation, than backing your opinion with nothing.

"And so, how do you think Nintendo can attract all of these HD guys into the Wii and Xenoblade?"

I didn't mean just them, so focusing on just them in the comment is you, not me. But I'll answer. The mainstream HD gamers buy games, not graphics. Actually most gamers do. So make a game they like and they will buy it.

They also buy brands, FF got big in the west because of it's graphics, soundtrack and Sony's 100 million campaign, Kingdom Hearts got big in the west because FF+Disney = sales, now... DQ, got big in Japan because of the gameplay, but... it didn't get big in the west, guess why?

"I didn't bash them, I just said that I don't give a shit about them."

No, you phrased it in a way that claimed the mainstream is irrelevant. People really need to know the difference between "Who cares" and "I don't care" (even my mom falls into that trap). There is a difference.

Nope, I said that I don't give a shit about them, which means, guess what? I don't give a shit about them, you chose to interpert it however you wanted to.

"So you say that there should be no games for pepole like me? SMART!"

No. YOU are claiming I'm stating that. I'm stating that there is too much money to JUST appeal to people like you, not exclude you entirely.

Okay, so are you saying that since there are dozens of RPG games out this gen (and most of them are on the Wii), the creators of Xenoblade shouldn't apply to the RPG crowd?

"But... RPGs, outside of FF, KH and DQ, have never been mainstream |:"

Pokemon and World of Warcraft are classified as RPGs, so you really need to do some research.

Warcraft is a MMORPG, it isn't a solitary, story based experience, it's a social, gameplay based game that's based on a huge brand with a company that's known for quality, Pokemon? It's the same, social, gameplay based game, it is nothing (for the west) like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, the fact that two games are in the same genre doesn't mean that they are the same sort of game (and you know what? I'll best that 90% of Pokemon players in the west don't even know they are playing a Role-Playing-Game.)

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

"Nope, that shows that it is better to back up your opinion with Correlation, than backing your opinion with nothing."

But that is for when there isn't much to go by other than correlation. Just applying correlation when there are more factors to take into account is the issue.

That doesn't mean the gameplay turns people off. Again there are other factors you have to apply, like the series never having the kind of push FFVII and KH got in the west.

"Nope, I said that I don't give a shit about them, which means, guess what? I don't give a shit about them, you chose to interpert it however you wanted to."

No, you couldn't have "said" that because this is a message board, so you can only type. And you did not write those words, you wrote other words, so claiming otherwise is a lie.

"Okay, so are you saying that since there are dozens of RPG games out this gen (and most of them are on the Wii), the creators of Xenoblade shouldn't apply to the RPG crowd?"

No, you are claiming the RPG crowd is something other than what I mean.

They are still RPGs, so trying to exclude them is BS.

Okay, make a poll than, alright? we'll see who's right and who's wrong :)
You are talking theoratically, sure, it is possible that the story isn't the reason for Xenogears and Xenosaga's success, however, it is a fact that they are, if you don't believe me, than go into other messege boards, read what pepole has to say, and realise that I am right, at least about this series.

Okay, I said "who gives a shit", I meant to say "I don't give a shit"... is it okay now?

That doesn't matter, the fact that they belong in the same genre does not mean that they are any similar, at all, trying to include them is more BS, because that's using simple definition of a genre and ignoring the essence of the games.

Calling it a fact means you need the poll, not me. Claims of certainty need proof, not possibility.

"I didn't say that the gameplay turns pepole off :)"

That was what you implied with Dragon Quest.

"Okay, I said "who gives a shit", I meant to say "I don't give a shit"... is it okay now?"

No, since that is not a response when the discussion is about more than your personal feelings.

I'm not including them. They are classified as RPGs by many sites and companies. So you think it's BS, take it up with them.

Personally, I hope Xenoblade is nothing like Xenogears or especially Xenosaga.

I put 24 hours into Xenogears but I could not get "into" it. Maybe if I forced myself nowadays I could get a tad farther, but I don't have money to waste.

Xenosaga 1 was complete bullshit. No one can convince me any differently.

Xenoblade has nothing to do with Xenogears or even Xenosaga. It's a standalone game that may use some of the terms and gnostics from the other titles, but the only reason it has the Xeno- prefix was because of this:

“We decided to call it Xenoblade to honor Mr. Tetsuya Takahashi who poured his soul into making this and who has been working on the Xeno series.” - Satoru Iwata

I am personally interested in this game. I wanted to see an RPG from them ever since Nintendo bought them.

@ the_bloodwalker

We know that Xenoblade is a stand alone game that has nothing to do with Xenogears & Xenosaga. We are just saying that Xenoblade's storyline should be Xeno-like since its has gnostics like it's predecessors.

The biggest problem with the game is you can't make your own characters.  The name is also stange.

stp it lordoftheknight. xenosaga 1 is one of the best rpg's hve played. ppl liked it for its story the most, it hd sum of the most amzing cutscnes, u hvnt played it clearly.

What support do you have for the bolded? If this thread is to be believed, Episode 1 was "70% cutscenes," and it opened with a 20 minute trailer. Like Xoneogears, it sold over a million copies.

Episode 2 sold significantly less than that, and 3 sold even less. People who buy a game on name recognition or hype and are ultimately disappointed with the product are unlikely to purchase the sequel. The fact that the sequels sold less implies that people who played the original did not like it. If it truly is a story-driven game, then they must have hated the story.
