The Gamecube had better core third party support than the Wii has had so far. Almost every major third party multiplatform game of that gen, except for GTA, appeared on Gamecube.

lol.  No, I'm sorry but not even close.

Gamecube did have a port of almost every important third party multiplatform title from last gen.

For starters, It had all the EA Sports games including EA Big titles like the NBA Street series. It had all of the big UBiSoft games like Prince of Persia, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, and Beyond Good and Evil. The Wii hasn't even had one Assassin's Creed game this gen or a version of something as big as Batman: Arkham Asylum or MW2. And, almost all the EA Sports titles are trimmed down for Wii.

Oh noez! Wii has been out for 3 years already, and Nintendo hasn't even announced a successor yet! And they've only posted a measly $2,430,000,000.00 in profits the past year! They're d0med!!

I think it was $2.95B

Nintendo Profit Falls to $2.4b in FY 3/2010, Gives FY 3/2011 Fcst

'For the year ending March 2010, Nintendo had revenues of 1.43 trillion Yen ($15.2 billion), down 22% from the previous fiscal year. Net income (profit) fell to 228.6 billion Yen ($2.43 billion) down 18% from 279.1 billion Yen ($2.97 billion) in the previous fiscal year.'

In case the fanboys can't understand it, from an investor's standpoint, i.e. pach's standpoint, the results shown above have to be extremely disappointing.

Uh, The Wii has Cod4, and 5, and will get cod 6 eventually when treyarch get round to porting it.

The next Prince of persia is being released multiplat, but the Wii is getting the superior version by far (assuming that you prioritise gameplay over graphics)

beyond good and evil is a big game now?

Extremely disappointing? If that's the case Nintendo's stock would've fallen SIGNIFICANTLY. NTDOY started the day at 40.5 and dipped to 39.80. Hardly the disappointing results you speak of. Especially considering the fact that this is the first profit drop in 6 years.

hmm Nintendo should really hire this guy i mean if they did they would have sold 100m Wii units and getting ready to release the next console this xmas

listen to me Nintendo this guys will help you do what no one can and even things that are not possible if you do not have him!

this guy knows what he is talking about!!! go Bitcher!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I think Nintendo would be smart to release the next Wii in 2011 at the five year mark. Revealing it at this years E3 could drive Wii sales lower this Christmas and theirfor negatively affect their profits. However I agree a new console is needed in the near future, Nintendo sales are down but lets remember that they are still selling more then the competition.

So Nintendo can maintain its present course for another year (Lowering sales) and then launch a new platform for next Christmas. Or they could accelerate the process and reveal their new console this year driving sales into a tail spin and then launch a new platform next fall. Either way I think 2011 will be when the next Wii launches.

Plus Pachter, the 3DS is launching this winter or early next year. It would not make sense for Nintendo to launch two new platforms during the same year. My best bet will be 3DS in November 2010 and the next home platform November 2011!

I just wish people would stop posting what this guy says. He is an idiot who knows nothing about gaming or game sales. Why do you guys keep posting what he says? I think the people who give him importance are even more annoying than he is.

My thoughts exactly. Why people seem obsessed with creating threads whenever the guy so much as blows a fart is beyond me.

I'll join that club.  The man frustrates me, not because I actually care what he has to say but because I really hope he's not as silly as he makes himself sound.

Oh, Pachter; don't ever change.

Actually, please change. Get your head out of your rear, admit you were wrong, and stop devoting such ridiculous amounts of time to trying to tank the Wii. It hasn't worked yet, and still won't. A mere 6% drop year over year, while not quite insignificant, is close enough to be of no concern whatsoever.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
