Great review. It's hard to think Mario as game of the year* because of Zelda... but, maybe this will be it, it just look so creative and fun. Mario never had that many great games... ever!

this is getting ridiculous.

They say it doesnt redefine the genre. It doesnt have to. as they say, this game is fresh, new and extremely fun. When they deduct points from games that dont redefine the genre, they mean games that are stale, dont try anything new, and use the same tried and tested formulas.

The fact that Mario Galaxy 2 feels completely fresh, has you getting 60 stars before they repeat things is outstanding. Read the whole review again and if you still have issues with the score then your the biased one. they clearly state why it gets that score. if you dont agree then perhaps you wait till you play the game yourself first before attacking them.

I personally feel that Edge magazine purposely deflate scores to gain the tough reviewer stance reputation. So to give a sequel to a game a 10 is fantastic in my book. stop whining and just enjoy the game when it comes out.

I understand what ur saying man , its like in GOW 3, the game was really  exactly like their predecessors and didnt do anthing groundbreaking, thats why the score was lower. I dont know if GOW3 was a perfect ten, but everyone should be treated the same way.

but mario is awesome in this game, they didnt give a 10 just for being mario (NSMBW got an 8 too! because this game didnt redefine anything, i found it boring and dull). So not every mario game is gonna have a free pass, its a good game, and relax man, you know the wii owners, they are cool, but dont always listen what u r saying =P

In that case, Halo 3 is not worth of the 10 they give to it, because it re-defines as much or even less from Halo 2, as SMG2 does from the first one.
