Shoop da woop is racist?

Since when? To who? What did i miss? :|

Look it up, it's racist against black people

I dont get it. I tried to look it up. Seems like someone called a TV show and said those words and it started from there? But I dont understand really.

Just look up racist cartoon on youtube, you will see it right away. The US had LOTS of racism in our "entertainment" in the early days of Television and movies.

??

Writing "racist cartoon" on YouTube pulls up lots of clips with racist cartoons, but what's that got to do with Shoop da woop??

The art style is one of the biggest things, as is the voice.

What are gold frogs?

The gold frog (Imageshack mascot) appears, when the hosted image has been deleted

Oh lol. Do they get deleted amutomatically by imageshack, eventually?

well I guess so.

But lots of image hosters are doing this to save some traffic. Still takes months until a picture gets deleted.

heh you know what's always me laugh about them? check this out:

under the terms of service item B, it says "Negative commentary on given topics is by no means disallowed; however, such comments should attempt to be substantiated."

and then they proceed to say the following in the banned memes/etc page: "VG Chartzzzzz: Long history with GAF's sales-age. Numbers are never accurate. -- Posting anything from this site will result in a ban. Our numbers are right. Theirs are wrong. Period."

emphasis is added in both cases

hypocritical much?

What I find to be more amusing is the fact that we can mention GAF whenever we want but if you mention VGChartz on their site, they will ban you. I mean, I'm sure Brett isn't exactly a fan of their site but at least he allows us to conjur our own opinions.

ioi has a history with neogaf. As I understand it, they banned him for "making up" numbers and arguing with people who called him on it. They do this because they simply don't want people to quote vgchartz numbers for anything because they see ioi and in turn VGC numbers as chronically unreliable. This is the most succinct explanation I can offer.

Eh actually, as far as I know, Brett offered to do the tracking for their site... they said no... then he started vgchartz.  I think the "making numbers up" stuff isn't actual their belief so much as trying to save face from screwing up so badly.

I mean, look at how big Vgchrtz is, how it's actually quoted in industry pieces and such.  Could of made gaf a lot of money.  They're just mad they screwed up.

Do you actually believe that last part? Really?! As I understand it, ioi had access to the same numbers as everyone else while he was a member of neogaf. He simply took the info everyone had at the time, and applied formulas to make his numbers. I don't think it takes much to see why neogaf banned him in the first place given the circumstances. ioi's history of "making up" numbers, using nonsense formulas and then arguing about it makes it impossible for neogaf to take him seriously and eventually got him banned.

I'm not defending neogaf, just presenting the other viewpoint that typically is neglected in threads like these.

Yes, I do.  Look at Vgchartz.  How else could you not be mad?  There is no such thing as "making numbers up" when it comes to statistical modelling.  It's just a term used by ignorant people.  So it's either Neogaf was ignorant or they are mad.

Either, outcome doesn't look good for them... I just went with the option that gives them more credit because being a industry site, you would think they would know something about industry numbers.  Also as far as I know.  He always had a little bit more info then "what was there."

You learn something new everyday it seems.

If you actually look it up most of the phrases and jokes in American culture can be traced to racism.

I think we can reclaim them.  We can take them back.

Guh. Everything with red lips ends up being branded as racist. Like Mr. Popo and Jynx. Damnit, caricature shouldn't amount to racism if its not racist intent.

When I said "look it up" I wasn't being facetious, I meant to do research into the origin of the meme.

The joke is based around the fact that the second stage of Cell in DBZ looks a lot like Toriyama's old depictions of black people, and when he fires a laser out of his mouth some /b/tards called it his "n***er beam", filled it in with black face, and colored his lips red to drive the point home. The meme itself is based on racist interpretation of non-racist material, but the meme is still extremely racist.
