This isn't much of a contest if you ask me, Uncharted 2. I honestly thought a good number of the models in GoW3 were pretty terrible especially when you have Kratos right next to them with such detail that you can see little bumps on his skin then you see Zeus that looks like he's been covered in body builder oil from head to toe, and that looks awful.

Only problem with both of them is that they're both rather linear pathway games so to make those games look pretty is easier than say GTAIV, it's a big difference when you really don't have to render a model for an object you never can get close to, so they can design it to give the illusion that there is a highly detailed object in the distance.

It's kinda unfair to some other games when they try to be open and don't have as much resources at their disposal or able to cover up some things because you have to be able to get close and interact with it.

Uncharted 2 has a much better artstyle, imo, and I love the look of Uncharted's hand drawn textures. I'd say God of War edges it out just barely on a technical level, but I prefer the look of Uncharted by a good margin. I'd give God of War the win in both scale and anti-aliasing, while both games are roughly tied in texture quality, animations, and character models. Lighting is hard to compare between the two, given their different artistic styles.

This is a hard one! Hmm. I am going to say GoW3. After playing that, I went and played MW2 again for a bit. Looked like garbage. o.o Then again, I had played Uncharted 2 a lot right before GoW3... and Crysis.

I am still saying GoW3. Uncharted is so very close though.

(GoW pics have better quality so not really fair, but for people that have played the games -> you know wut im talken abaouut!)

GoW3 has better characters (I thought all characters were good o_O, but you're always looking at Kratos so.. ) and a fkin HUUGE SCAALE!

Uncharted 2 has better textures, animations, lightning and environments (in my opinion).

It's too close to call as they both really shine. Uncharted 2><GoW 3

I complain about Zeus and you see in this scene starting at the 13 second mark that Zeus' model doesn't look half as good as it could have and Zeus is a main character, there's some other meh looking characters too but Zeus is one you're going to see close ups like this... Uncharted 2... honestly I can't say I ever saw one thing that stuck out like a sore thumb like that.

:O I just noticed that, but it's ..not really easy to find something like that xD. I'm currently on my second playthrough in Titan (yeah Im slow xD but i've played the boss fights on Normal over and over again lol). Still.. the way Kratos looks is just insane and yeah Uncharted 2 shine all the way through while GoW3 is insane at best but plain "good" at lowest. The insane makes up for it though xD.

lol Im playing FF XIII, and I see that horrible quality youtube video, and my jaw dropped.. I forget how good things look.. FF XIII looks like crap next to that video..

i would say God of War III, but Uncharted 2 has the sympathy bonus.

Uncharted was under most peoples radar until everyone was blown away by that Gameplay Video at E3. That was when the real hype for the game started, nobody had expected it to look that good and everyone loved the game!

God of War on the other hand was always expected to be looking great and breaking down some Graphical barriers, and it does just that what it was expected to do and that is why it might not be seen as such a great deal.

I think that this phenomenon plays a role in how people view the graphics of these games, and i believe the same effect is right now working against Alan Wake as a graphical Powerhouse. Had Alan Wake been under the radar until a few weeks prior to it's release, i am sure it would have had a much better reception then it does now after all the accumulated hype.
