@ssenkahdavic, bungie wouldnt be bungie without m$ and thats a fact. if m$ never bought them and used halo as the must have xbox game and made sure everyone knew that for their start into the console race, bungie wouldnt be anywhere near where they are today. it just seems to me that bungie spit in m$'s face by signing this deal. so i will buy halo reach, but after that i hope every game they make bombs hard and is utter trash. i know my opinion is going to be in the very small minority but its my opinion.

They would not be where they are today without MS.  I agree completely.  Thing is, MS let them go independent.  Did they have to? No.  But it is probably a good thing that they did (think Activision-IW).

Bungie had to sign a deal of this nature to stay afloat (since they are not doing anything else Halo after Reach).  Bungie needs a Publishing partner that can/will go to different platforms (MS obviously wont) and Activision might just be the right place for them.  Activision Blizzard is large enough where they have no problem "spitting in MS eye" (as you put it) where other smaller Publishers might just think twice about it.

Was it Bungie or MS that made the decision on Halo? Does anyone know?

That's a load of BS and you know it.  Bungie will make a metric shit-ton of money off of Reach, more than enough to keep them going until their next game comes out.  They obviously have their reasons for signing a deal with Activision, but a desparate need for money because big-bad MS won't let them make a multiplat game is not one of them.

How it is BS?  Do you know how much Bungie will be paid for Reach?  Read their interview with Edge.  In there they say they want to go Multiplat (could not do that with MS, agree?) and that this deal is VITAL for them to remain free to work on this IP and ONLY this IP (they did say something about maybe a small project or so) for an entire decade.  The fact that the deal allows them to:

A) Stay Independent

B) Keep the IP (which they regret they could not do with Halo, its in the Edge Interview)

C) Use Activision to help with the transfer to Multiplat (use their internal resources)

just does not seem like a bad thing to me.

For some reason my highlighting did not work.  I was not saying your entire post was BS, just the part where Bungie "had to sign this deal to stay afloat."  That is not even remotely true.

You and me both.  Some of my highlights show up and others do not.  The one thing that I do know about their financials, is after Reach they are FAR from secure.  This being their last Halo game means no guaranteed income off their next game.  Them going multiplat also means a good deal more resources will have to be expended (lots more money) without the financial push they had from MS as their publisher (knowing they also had a big franchise coming out).  I am not saying they would go bankrupt, or that they could not fund this project on their own, but to carry on in the future, having this financial backing (as they did with MS) makes PERFECT sense.  Especially with their branching out to a/many new systems.

My opinion of them hasn't changed. I used to hate the fact that because of them, almost all recent FPS have used regenerating health, now I hate the fact that because of them, almost all recent FPS have used regenerating health.

Disclaimer - I'm not saying they're a bad developer. Most people love regenerating health so they were right to do it. I just don't enjoy such games as much.

Them signing with Activision is not a betrayal of MS, they're an independent company and can do what they want. It's not as if MS even has any particular right to consider Bungie 'theirs' - Halo 1 was meant to be Mac exclusive until MS moneyhatted.

I can't wait to play their next IP on PS3. I hope it's "Halo on steroids" like Sony said.

The Power of the PS3 + Bungie talent = Great games incoming !

well what i loved about bungie was all the online features they put in halo. Playlists customising, online stats, database of screenies, video, custom maps, variants and everything was kept online accessible by computer. Forge is my most favourite feature, I truely loved searching bungie.net for racetracks, puzzlemaps, social party games and downloading them with ease.

now coming back to the topic, i really dont think they can manage these features without being as close with microsoft anymore. I dont believe that its impossible, more so believe that microsoft aint ganna be their bitch and finds ways of implementing such features with ease.

I thought Microsoft did a fine job publishing the past games, i dont believe that Activision can match it.

If microsoft managed to sell an expansion for 60 bucks (ODST) expect Activision to sell the inital game at 120 bucks.

I dont hate bungie for signing up for Activision, but i believe Bungie *was* in the best position having microsoft as its bitch. Sure microsoft may put deadlines on the developers, but microsoft would of bent over backwards to help Bungie develop the game. You can prove this with all of the PC/360 exclusives, anything microsofts puts its name next to ends up being as good as any half assed exclusive.

gl Bungie, i hope you have Activision by the balls cos that is the only reason i see the success of their previous games matched.

I lost some respect for them. I dont really care that they went multi plat but they signed with the Devil. Bungie has the capital and namebrand to sell their games without funding from a mega publisher and should have stuck with their previous formula.

Long Live SHIO!

same as before, I dislike FPS so I don't really care if their game is on PS3 or not. Now if they make a TPS I will care......a lot

HAHAHA!!!

Never played WoW I see.

Acti-Blizzard devs will be able to teach these children a thing or two about online stats.

Honestly I don't care about Bungie much. Of course it would have been great if they had remained Xbox exclusive to strengthen our console, but personally it's not big a loss. It's possible their next game will be good though and it's fairly exciting to see what it will be. My bet is that it's a MMO in the action/shooter genre.

no change really. if anything the more I think about it the more I see it as a good thing they move onto new stuff instead of getting stuck in one franchise.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

WoW is a pc based game already. Bungie.net is clearly unmatched on the console front.

Everyone knows how hard it is to distribute user created content on the 360, gl reproducing that.
