7.5 for FF and 7.0 for FF2
FF - 6/10
FF2 - 5/10
They haven't aged very well.
Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?
Final Fantasy - 5/10
Frankly, this game hasn't aged well, and it didn't help that it really did nothing new for the console rpg genre. Under two months after it was released Dragon Quest III was released in Japan, a game that pretty much made Final Fantasy look exactly as it was, a cheap Dragon Quest clone that was trying to get a cut of the profit. Although, I'm not saying I didn't enjoy this game, it being a NES game, it has quite a bit of charm to it, but this game is clunky, slow, and just hasn't aged well. Even the updated versions wreak of how shallow this game really is. Even by the standards of when it was released, I think it would still have a 5/10 for me, and would have probably made me hate rpgs in general.
Final Fantasy II - 4/10
Needless to say, this is one broken game. With a poor plot, forgettable characters, and an awful advancement system, this game didn't really do much to improve the series... in fact it was a major step backward. It comes off as if Square was just trying to cash in on the success of the previous game even though they were really trying to make a unique experience... Luckily for us, games like this has allowed Square to learn what does and doesn't work.
Final Fantasy 1: 8.5/10
Final Fantasy 2: 2/10 That game can go to hell.
Oh and by the way, Final Fantasy 6 needs its own thread. FF6 made a huge leap for the series which Final Fantasy 7 took a lot of its plot and story line from.

I played 2 for a while and got into it for a bit. Went to far a few times and was totally destroyed. But eventually my psp had the x button like it was being auto pressed. Sadly for the game that didn't hurt it much since I was still able to progress fine for quite a while.
I can only give that game a 5 had I fully finished the game it might have gone up a point or could have gone down two more.
fast version FF2 5/10
Hmm... 2 great games, with some nostalgia. Let me look at them one at a time-
FF1: For its day, this was a huge game, truely living up to the words "Final Fantasy." It had an overworld that you could get lost in, if the dungeons didn't swallow you up first! You got to have 4 characters that you could pick the classes of, really giving it a classic D&D feel. (And yes, that also ties into those annoying magic level points...) However, it was nowhere near perfect. The difficulty and spell strength was horribly uneven, and the first part of the game was rather linear. But it's a game I'd still play to this day. 7.1/10
FF2: Not quite as good as FF1, but still good. The mechanics of leveling were definitely interesting, even if they did leave a few... issues... behind. The music improved, as did the exploration aspect, but at times, it felt like running into a brick wall with an even worse difficulty curve in some areas. 6.9/10
(And yes, those are scores I give to FF games I like. There're just too many other games that I prefer to the FF series.)

FF1: 6/10 While I loved this game at release. It simply hasn't aged well. Simple things like your party members attacking already dead enemies instead of choosing another target show this games age. The remakes fixed that aspect and it improved the games atrocious speed and dated graphics but game still only remains passable by todays standards.
FF2: 6/10 The game play was inferior to FF1 IMO but it was the first game in the series that had some character depth. Unlike the first game your characters were not generic and had their own back story. The three of them and a fourth always changing guest character experienced this games quest. If the game even had FF1 archaic advancement system I'd probably bump it up a point but it doesn't. You literally can go into battle against a weak enemy and beat up your on part members to increase their attributes. The GBA remake did not fix this. That is what ultimately hampered the FFII experience.

My first FF was FF4, and at the advice of my friends, I later played FF1. It was not a satisfying experience. I just don't feel like it was very fun with its bare bones story. I give it a 4.5/10
FF2 on the other hand, I actually enjoyed, mostly because I like the kind of leveling system in FF2. The story was meh as well, but I still had a lot of fun playing it. I've beaten FF2 3 times now, I'll happily give it a 8.5/10.
