Only 8%, huh? Well, that's what you get when you cut a system in its prime off at the knees in favor of something that brings nothing genuinely new to gaming. I'd hoped Nintendo would have learned from the failure of the Gamecube and success of both the DS and Wii, but evidently they need another round of failure to innovate bringing failure to succeed before that happens.

Why? Even 8% is great by now. And i believe we will see a Ps2/Ps3 like scenario, DS/3DS will convive for long time at the market, Ds will probably outsell 3DS in the first year but than 3DS sales are going to skyrocket and DS will get smaller every year.

i dont think the 3ds will ever realy become a big hit. its too much like the ds (from the information we know). its like nintendo said that releaseing a new wii with just hd added wouldnt be worth it. i think its same thing. just 3d isnt enough

but if the rumors are true it is a lot more than the DS things like rumble, much better battery to support rumble, gamecube level graphics, some form of 3D control that will probable be duel thumb sticks or something using the cameras. Then you have the new games, Software after all is what will decide whether it will sell, you put out games like Nintendogs 2, Brain training 3, New super mario bros 2, Next game in the DS Zelda series etc (and that is just first party) and you market it well, then cut the supply of DS hardware so a lot of the demand for the DS is moved strait onto the 3DS (in addition to up selling) as people looking for a DS can be soled the "better" newer peice of hardware.

there are heaps of ways for the 3DS to be sold and if they keep doing what they have been doing this generation I could see it selling very well.

Kotaku is notorious for sensationalists headlines. 8% is pretty good for something NO ONE HAS SEEN. then 50% are like I probably will... Once again i feel the western press will miss the boat on this, just like they did with the DS and the Wii.

The number are accurate for what's been presented. Theres no software shown to validate the 3DS. Wait until Nintendo shows software and the experiences that can only be done on the 3DS. Then redoe the poll. There will be a massive change.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

people don't know much about the 3ds, so that maybe is because people don't want it.

~9% of people polled want to buy a 3DS, and we have almost zippo information on the system and it's capabilities. The only thing we know is that it's 3D..that's literally it, right?

Holy hell, that's a lot of interest already! Just wait until E3 when we actually find out true information for the system.

~9% of people wanting to buy a system before any real information is even known... That should never be looked upon as something bad. That is something truly remarkable, I'd say.

This means nothing to me , once we didnt even saw the console , and the only thing we know is that it will have glass-free-3d ...so its easy to someone come up and say "I will not buy it" is the same thing of anyone saying "I will not buy the Playstation 9"

GO PATS! 2012 THE YEAR OF NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS'S 4TH SUPER BOWL!

Now playing> THE LAST STORY (Wii) Best RPG I EVER PLAYED. *-*

Nintendo could u please just take my money and give me back my 3DS?!

I would totally buy a 3DS w/o knowing the specs.

I don't buy into all the 3D hype these days. But I'm very certain that I'll be getting a 3DS over a PSP2 because the third-party support will likely be solid just like the DS and I prefer Nintendo's first-party over Sony's. Especially on handhelds.

Not right away though. I'm not an early adopter and often times early adopters get screwed over anyway (ie. DS Phat, launch 360s, $600 YLOD PS3s, etc, Phat PSP, etc.) I'll buy one when the 3DS software starts to really hit a stride and new DS software starts to slow down.

I take it that the Japanese are also taking a wait and see approach. Thats what the majority generally does. The early adopters will get the 3DS in its early stages but the early/late majority will stick with their DS for awhile, the late adopters are still buying DS Lites/DSis/DSiXLs in droves (not as much in Japan but in North America and Europe, that is definitely the case) and you'll have the laggards still buying the DS Lite/DSi/DSi XLs after the 3DS is out. It took a little while for PS2 hardware sales to slow down and even longer for software sales to slow down. The DS has a lot of life left in it.
