Only 8%, huh? Well, that's what you get when you cut a system in its prime off at the knees in favor of something that brings nothing genuinely new to gaming. I'd hoped Nintendo would have learned from the failure of the Gamecube and success of both the DS and Wii, but evidently they need another round of failure to innovate bringing failure to succeed before that happens.

Why? Even 8% is great by now. And i believe we will see a Ps2/Ps3 like scenario, DS/3DS will convive for long time at the market, Ds will probably outsell 3DS in the first year but than 3DS sales are going to skyrocket and DS will get smaller every year.

i dont think the 3ds will ever realy become a big hit. its too much like the ds (from the information we know). its like nintendo said that releaseing a new wii with just hd added wouldnt be worth it. i think its same thing. just 3d isnt enough

but if the rumors are true it is a lot more than the DS things like rumble, much better battery to support rumble, gamecube level graphics, some form of 3D control that will probable be duel thumb sticks or something using the cameras. Then you have the new games, Software after all is what will decide whether it will sell, you put out games like Nintendogs 2, Brain training 3, New super mario bros 2, Next game in the DS Zelda series etc (and that is just first party) and you market it well, then cut the supply of DS hardware so a lot of the demand for the DS is moved strait onto the 3DS (in addition to up selling) as people looking for a DS can be soled the "better" newer peice of hardware.

there are heaps of ways for the 3DS to be sold and if they keep doing what they have been doing this generation I could see it selling very well.
