I thought Rinoa + Squall love story was pretty good. I think XV needs one.

My 0 is not "how do you rate VIII compared to other games", it's "how to do you rate VIII compared to other FFs". VIII is the worst FF, so it gets the worst score.

How do they fall in love? Why does Rinoa even like Squall?

I have played FFV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, VII: Dirge of Cerberus and XII and I like all of them.
FFVIII is my second favourite FF after VI :D
The story, characters, SoundTrack, Battle System, GFs, Environment, Side Quests, Secret Bosses, graphics, everything was and still is awesome ^____^
I love FF games :D Specially PS1 FFs :D those were the best ones =)

Score: 9.9/10 ^_^

and FFVI is a 10/10 :P

The battle system wasn't enjoyable as with the plot.

recently downloaded it from psn haven't completed it yet though, great story like any final fantasy but is my least favourite out of the one I have played which is ffvi onwards.

Sorry I have a habit of doing things like that.
