It's cause of the motion controller. If they didn't have it PS3 would have been #1 and Wii 2nd or 3rd like last gen. It's cause of price and fun games also. It's nice to see a Nintendo console is #1 again though.

I think it's due to Miyamoto's philosophy of having his games accessible to everyone which seems to be the philosophy of everyone at Nintendo.

just my take above, i think nintendo perfectly make games for thier console audiences, i doubt any other types of games could reach them numbers.

They target older/old people, young kids, girls, cats and dogs... They have the biggest audience so they sell tons more.
Some companies just have a magic ability to make appealing products. Sure they have their bad days as well, but you don't last as long as Nintendo have without having something special.
It's like asking 'how do Disney do it time after time?'
