Yes. but dont forget.. mass advertising can be bad too.

Nobody here cannot say they have seen a ad so many times that it has turned you off the product.

True, though it's a rarity.  The "rule of mere exposure" states that the more you see something the more you like it.  It of course has it's threshold, but this generally holds true.  The trick is to work it just right so you catch as much of the mass market as you can.

Singstar was allways the biggest karaoke game ever so its no surprise if this one will sell well to :?

You could not be more correct. I almost turn the TV off during the commercials on football games because I've seen each of those annoying-ass Sprint commercials a billion times.

I swear, if Peyton Manning tries to schill just one more product...

Also, I think Kasz is right about the multiple features in an ad deal. I think it's best to just focus on one aspect of the product at a time, while spending less time on the other features. Everybody sees the PS3 as a gaming console first and multi-media center second. Same thing with the PSP, otherwise nobody would have iPods, right?

That Saab ad with the awful "Release me" song hurts my ears. If I ever get a car, it won't be a Saab, that's for sure.

(If you really want to know, it would probably be a Smart)

The theatrical ad, called "The Entertainers" will feature a magician, his assistant and a plucky acrobat all trying to promote the different features of the PS3. ""The new campaign is designed to showcase the wealth of entertainment available on PlayStation 3," explains SCE UK marketing man Alan Duncan."

...

This is the worst friggin ad in the history of videogames IMO.

I saw it tonight - I was with my wife at one of her (female) friends place.

The only reason I had any idea what it was about - was that I had already seen it on YouTube.

Apart from "what a stupid ad" comment from both my wife/friend, it didn't make any sort of impact at all. It is stupid, doesn't have anything to do with games, doesn't actually LOOK good, doesn't promote BluRay...

...I really don't know what drugs these people (that ok the ad) are on.

...

The stupid thing is this: the PS3 has the "best" graphics - so why doesn't it use them to promote itself? Just show more game footage? They are MUCH more impressive AND promote the device as a CONSOLE.

Ironically, following the Sony ad we had both a DS ad (Horsez) & Wii ad (Mario Galaxy - a really short ad). Both had a significant amount more impact than this ridiculous ad from Sony :P

Singstar is huge everywhere isnt it? its big in Europe, Australia and NZ. Is it not a big seller in America?

its biggest market is europe, but it is slowly growing in america

Although I expect Singstar to do really, really well in the long term - it has a lot more competition this generation. Its only been one year, and it has Boogie, Disney Singing game, Rockband (and at least one other game I can't place now).

The biggest competition (ironically) would be Singstar on the PS2.

And I'm expecting "WiiKaraoke" (already been reserved by Ninty) sometime next year - and there is reports of a Hudson Karaoke game hitting WiiWare near launch (with downloadable content).

Sort of odd that Singstar isn't huge in Japan...?

Can someone put a link to the ad on youtube? I'd like to see it too.

And Guitar Hero... Not as a competitor as a kaaoke game, but considering you have a girl and a boy in your family, the girl may wan't Singstar and the boy want Guitar Hero. A lot of families propably are not going to buy both, at least not in the short term, but this could lead it having legs.

" here's little over four weeks until Christmas and if any of the three platform holders has realised there's money to be made, it's Sony."

That sentence is quite funny. The only thing Sony has realized is that there's money to be lost on the PS3. Lots of it.
