Just because ioi said it would reach a certain number of preorders doesn't mean that it will. I don't see this game being as big as MW2, i'm guessing first week will be more like 3-4m.

Halo is definitely starting to lose some of it's appeal, and although the MP is the most important part, the story behind the series has really gone south since the first one.

And how do you figure?

As i said the story is wearing pretty thin, infact the whole halo universe is.  And COD has come along and stolen it's thunder.  That is how i figure.

@ the man with no name, when halo 3 launched there were something like 10m x360's there are much more now, so while reach could very well have a better first week i doubt it will sell as many lifetime.

@fastyxx i don't see how at all? but i guess your just attacking me because i didn't say halo reach will sell 10m first week

No, its really not.  If you have ever read any of the novels or played any of the games you would know this.

And the reason why COD MW2 stole any of the thunder was because it is much newer than Halo 3, when Halo: Reach comes out it will regain the number 1 spot.

it will sell 1.5 mill worldwide the first day , the fan base is much smaller than it was before i doubt its gonna reach 6 mill lifetime

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Freakin priceless dude....freakin priceless!!!

There are far too many variables at this juncture. The game could most certainly reach such a lofty sales figure. However that is entirely dependent upon two factors. One that the game retains the inherent quality of Halo 3. Two that the game is a sufficient evolution over its predecessor. Truly we cannot use ODST as any kind of metric given that it was an expansion, and thus did not have the raw amount of content that Halo 3 possessed.

This said if it is simply a high quality retread then no it cannot reach such sales figures. This sadly is a very possible conclusion. Given the developers love of repackaging last years fair with a few new bells and whistles. I do not see that kind of demand for reused maps, weapons, and modes. Really it is a question of courage. Does the developer have the courage to really step away from the framework. Hell to just have the conviction to provide shear volume.

That is what remains to be seen. It really is a question of whether you think the developer has it in them. Do you believe they can or do you think the allure of being safe is too much for them to ignore.

It's a prequel with no mc but it will get the ad budget, it may be bungie's last and it has the H word in the title. 4,917,562 wk1.

I love your very specific prediction, it would be so sweet if you were EXACTLY right.

That would be simply amazing!

Past Avatar picture!!!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

I think it may beat out the the 360 version of mw2 slightly. So anything from 5 million to 5.5 would be my guess.

I didn't get Halo 3... but I'm getting Reach and I know I'm not the only one

You're joking right?  You can't be serious...

i would make a guess low end 5 mil my prediction 6.5 mil high end 8.5-9.5 mil.
though 8.5-9.5 mil is whaty i would say is a miracle but maybe it is possible

Ok if it sells 6 million in the first week, what's the cost of the game and what will be the profit total at the end of the week?

According to Patcher Microsoft get 45ish dollars for the 60 dollar copy... 12 of it goes to Bungie and whatever is left over from the advertisment is profit... we don't know how big it's going to be... so 6 mill times 12 bucks... that's not to shabby for Bungie... that should easily pay for development cost and help fun the next game
