Forums - Sony - I HATE JAPAN

I wouldn't care, but it's kinda censored which is always irritating.

Why not have an option to change between the characters? Maybe there's a workaround that issue Onna, have you tried asking on a Japanese PS3 related board?

EDIT - on second thought, they might have not provided the option due to the game's age ratings. If there was an easy option to unhide the blood, the ratings board would probably not be pleased. However, I don't know how ratings work in Japan, so this might not make any sense...

I thought that since you're a huge Mario fan you'd be so happy with SMG that you couldn't care less what Ratchet looks like on R&C...

True, but who knows if it'll happen to more games. And besides, this isn't supposed to happen.

Obviously it is supposed to happen.

I remember the devs talked about this. They said the Japanese preferred a different look for Ratchet. His head is 10% bigger, his eyes are more shiny, and his pants are a fluorescent green. The interviewer found this hilarious.

"In the US version the Japanese ratchet can't be unlocked" - This is interesting. Did you explain to them you had a Japanese PS3? From what retailer did you order the game?

Like I've said before, if they censure blood from out of games, I honestly don't care, but changing another region its game with characters and story to "their" region game, automatically on a system is pathetic, especially in a game like R&C. Why making a console region free if games from other regions will be entirely adapted depending on the region console which you use. Besides I'm playing Ratchet & Clank Size Matters US version on my Japanese PSP and Ratchet just looks the same as it suppose to be. So why the change via the PS3? I don't get it.

I hope the story just remains the same, hope to hear this asap from Insomniac, but I think they'll be surprised to hear this from me anyway and are more like "hah"? If these changes will occur too much, I'm honestly thinking of getting an European PS3 as well or instead. What do you think?

I'm not even sure why the Japanese like his face this way, IMO he looks scary.

@NJ5, I don't think there will be many Japanese with a NTSC US version of R&C I guess, considering the fact the game is cheeper in Japan than in the US ;) More the reason why I don't understand the adaptions.

The rating of the game is indeed in Japan "everyone" while in the US its "teen" but still... 10+, so in the end for kids as well.

@Dallinor, yes I've also read this, this morning and have written that in my mail to them, that they've claimed the Japanese characters to be unlockable in the US version. And yes, I've mentioned having a JP PS3. I bought this game from an American retailer.

That's just crazy. What a waste of time and effort to put into development :(

So if you have a Japanese PS3.. and buy the US & Japanese versions of R&C... you get two copies of the Japanese (i.e. both play like the Japanese).

Yet you take it over to a friends place - who has a US version... and the game is different?

What's wrong will selling two versions of the game - a Japanese & US version again?

And the Japanese Uncharted game has no blood in it ... more exactly US versions of Uncharted are cenzored on Japanese systems ... not a biggie if you ask me :?
