I dont get it either. The game shipped probably half million on consoles alone, but even those where sold mostly on budget price. Well it seems that HD development budgets went down a LOT from 06

Maybe this's some kind of bussiness comrpomise or something... I can't think in other reason of why they bring back this thing.

Well the new 3D saw is comming out this holiday season, and maybe they are hoping that they can ride that wave? The last saw didnt do as good as the studio expected, but if you film your movie in 3D from day 1, you could be sitting on a gold mine

The first one was mildly entertaining.
If they can make it a little bit longer, it will be a decent game.
Could be made using money from the Producers behind SAW.
i.e. companies like to branch out their ips. Look at Mass Effect and the books, or Dead Space and the anime + comics etc.
Also, Konami might be using this as an opportunity to use existing technology (engines) and train up and coming developers. Not all video game developers start off amazing.
maybe they'll put Kojima's name on the box this time. might actually sell.
