They still haven't properly announced 3DS, though. It's extremely likely that some sort of compatibility will be involved, i say.

It seems they have gone back to using colours again (I am satisfied with their decision). I wonder if the mascot Pokemon will have some relevance to the names of these games.

EXACTLY. I absolutely think there'll be 3DS enhancement included in it, and the fact that the announcements about the game leave out anything about it doesn't mean anything. Nobody can say anything for certain until after E3.

My guess is that Nintendo secretly bought Lionhead out of Microsoft, so this is just B&W with huge pokemón for creatures. Wich would rock.
