Forums - Nintendo - And I thought Gamespot's FE review was bad.

1up recently reviewed Trauma Center: New Blood and gave it an amazing 5/10. Why? Apparently they found it too difficult. For those of you who like to read reviews and ignore scores, it won't be helpful either. The great majority of the review is devoted to how they couldn't do a certain level. There's practically zero useful information in the "review." It's one of the worst reviews I've ever seen from 1up (that's saying something).

They are hard to please. What will they give Okami on the Wii? A 6/10? It is too easy?

Ouch, even Soul Calibur Legends scored higher than that.

Is it just me or is "too difficult" becoming more common. First Fire Emblem and now Trauma Center: New Blood.

Also, it is amusing that the "too difficult" games just happen to be Wii games.

That is what happens when you just use your Wii to make half assed reviews. Do they even know how to play the game? Have they played any games recently? Most games on Wii were bashed for being too easy and casual friendly and now this.
Hard games were always a good thing for me.

i can see how Trauma Center can be too difficult (haven't played it, but found the DS version too difficult) but i don't really see how a tactical RPG like FE can possibly be too difficult. otherwise what's the point of playing a tactical RPG?

the Wii is an epidemic.

Too Difficult sounds good to me to be honest.

I always like games with a bit of challenge =P

Also that is the worst review I have ever read. Too difficult, while it may drop half a point off, maybe one if it is hugely too difficult, should never drop a game down to 5/10 with no other complaints at all.
1UP is complete and utter turkey droppings. They should be removed from Gamerankings and Metacritic in my opinion.

Well to most peopel Final Fantasy Tactics is their fram of refrence.  Final Fantasy Tactics is like the easiest SRPG there is.

Some games can be too difficult though Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth for one.

Some how, I always seemed to be

A) outnumbers 3 to 1.

and

B) Outleveld by 3-4 levels

no matter what i did unless i grinded in a tower for like 5 hours between battles.

Even using strategy and baiting a couple units at a time hardly seemed to work.  Not to mention that weird system they wanted you to do to get items...

Hardest SRPG i've played... and i've nearly played em all.... well english ones.

Trauma Center is no walk in the park. To tell the truth, I had to change it to easy in order to finish the mission before the last one. I rented the game so I had limited time. Even so, this game is not that frustrating. If you want a game that is so hard (or cheap) that takes the fun away, try Farcry on hard, Maximo, Persona 3.

TC challenge is just right. You can not finish most missions on the first try, but they are not impossible if you keep trying.

IMHO they are bitching because they wanted to play the game just enough to make a review. When the game kicked their ass and told them they are not worthy they got pissed and rated it low.

No. Just no. Don't compare a Trauma Center review to a Fire Emblem review from TWO DIFFERENT SITES.

1UP scored FE:RD like a 9 or 8.5 out of 10. 1UP is not bias like Gamespot (or paid like Gamespot by Microsoft).

1UP didn't complain about the difficulty, they complained about the precision of the game. It is not 100% perfect when it comes to accuracy like it should be. When you are performing EXACTLY where the game tells you, then the game should know that you are doing it correctly but it doesn't.

Therefore, it fails at life.

Funny how none of the other gaming sites seemed to struggle with it, only 1UP.

Face it 1UP is a pathetic review site, Gamespot reviews big games low for publicity but I severely doubt they are actually strongly biased against or for any console. 1UP has consistently shown that they don't like the Wii and generally rate its games very low, in particular games that make heavy use of the wiimote.
