You guys miss the Ipad point. It does have a image of a apple fruit on the back, that itself makes any one pay U$ 500 - 600 to anything anyone doesn't need.

What a cherry picked chart.

How about product thickness? Strangely missing.
Battery life?
User interface?
Ease of use?
Software specifically designed for the piece of hardware?
Oh no, the iPad doesn't have a PC card slot!

I know some of you wish Apple would die in a fire and disappear (the no buttons, no go thread made me run out of facepalms yesterday) but I wish those people would realize this is the same bs distinction that gamers made before the Wii launch and continues to this day. You don't like a touchscreen only interface? Cool, stfu and find something constructive to contribute.

Just because the device lacks any physical, pronounced buttons, doesn't mean the device is worth shrugging off because of your own personal biases. Any device that is or will be a significant platform should get objective discussion here, regardless of the company behind it. Given the amount of software sold on the App Store since the iPhone launch, it deserves our attention with respect to gaming.

There will always be fanbois opposed to something that they do not own (see PS3 fanbois rating ME2 a 0). I try to just tune them out. Life is alot better that way for me.

Apple is after the E reader / netbook / casual gamer market with the Ipad. I do like that Apple had the clout to break the Amazon lock down on E distribution even thou this will make E books cost more in the short term. The main issue for a E reader that I see is the Ipad's backlit screen. I would have prefered a system that could do E ink as well. The cost is a pretty minor issue for me.

What are your thoughts on reasons for buying an Ipad?

Well it seems like a good device for doing most the the things computer users actually do. Internet browsing, perusing facebook, looking at photos, watching videos, etc. Like any new product, I'd like to try it before passing judgment one way or the other. What I have a problem with is people writing things like the iPad off because they're from the wrong company or because they challenge what they think computing/gaming should be. It's the Wii is for kiddehs mentality all over again.

I agree with famousringo because I question going out day one to buy any first-generation consumer product. Part of that here is being swept into the hype that involves the launch of any new Apple product, but some people legitimately like the iPad. I just want to find a reasonable middle ground here between Apple fanboys and haters.

We are up for new Laptops at work (2 year turnaround) and management is considering buying us these.

If this is the case Ill have one in about 2 months, tho I am not really looking forward to it.

I absolutely hate Apple as a company and anyone that gives them money should get stuck in jail for promoting theft, monopoly, and circulation of anti-trust laws.

That aside, people REALLY need to stop thinking of the iPad as a computer, or a replacement to a netbook. It's not, in comparison it's crap, it's fail, it's shit, it's useless, it's expensive, it's absolutely inferior to a netbook in every way imaginable. As someone pointed out in the off-topic thread, when something terribly important comes up for work, or school, and you are on vacation somewhere the netbook can indeed save your ass very serious trouble, it's happened to me before. Meanwhile the iPad is no more use than the brick on the side of the street, and it weighs about as much as one too. So if you ever hear anyone ever say that an iPad is better than a netbook, it should be your moral imperative to punch them in the face.

After using an iPad for a bit I know what an iPad actually is. It is a personal TV with hooked-up internet and a touch screen. It fully succeeds at that. It is not meant for doing anything, just consuming and wasting money on things you can get for much cheaper elsewhere and even free in certain cases. It is fully successful at what it does and it brings something new to the table. It's still a piece of shit product for $500, but if it didn't cost that much it would be something passable, open it up and then it would be something amazing. One more thought, media consumption on it should be free. No reason for me to have to pay for things on an iPad that I get for free on the internet, WHEN THE IPAD ALSO HAS THE INTERNET! Only idiots would fall for such a scam, but it seems there are plenty of them to go around. If you are one of those people please email me your bank information because you just won a million dollars and I need to deposit it in your accounts.

tl;dr: People who compare the iPad to a netbook and say it's better are morons, people who classify it as an obscenely expensive personal TV are correct and thinking of the iPad as such makes it a whole lot less iFail.

all what apple did is giving a hype for the ipad, now there are selling thousands of it.

The dude abides

I thought similar things about it being a big Itouch before I used one, but now I own one and this thing is awesome. Try it before talking stuff that in the end is not true.
