I wouldn't say under 80 is  shit though. IMO under 60 is shit, 60-70 is playable, 70-80 is a good game and then over 80 its really good.

I think 60-70 is for fans of the genre only, 70-80, is Good, 80-90is Grate, 90+ is awesome and 100 is a  outstanding a perfect game.

but I hate the A, AA, AAA, AAAA staff if the gaming media wants to use a Alphabetical scale they should use a more standered scale for 0-100 like F, D, C, B, A, S and if they want to add more use SS for the best of the best.

Imho, Anything less than 70 isn't really worth my time, and anything less than 80 isn't really worth a purchase, but there are exceptions to both. As for the AAA rating, I don't really have a problem with it at 90...if you value nobody elses opinion...then no problem, it worthless, but like movies...the ratings are too far off.

Would also make it a lot harder to call something AAA since 90s are given out like diseases at a whorehouse anymore. I remember when 70-80 score was buy if you liked the genre, 80-89 was "really, really awesome for its genre" and 90+ was that rare and magical game that transcended genre and you'd see its influence for years to come.

Spiderman 3 is one of the best games this gen then.

I've come to know this as the definition behind the term "AAA" as well. I mean, just go up to Square-Enix and tell them that Final Fantasy XIII (an 83 on MetaCritic) is not a AAA product. They'll probably tell you to go talk to Darth about it. And then you'll never be seen again.

As far as games that get the 90+ from the critics, I think Khuutra's term "MetaDarlings" fits the critical billing just fine.

The rating system is a complete joke. Games are judged on the scale of 6-10 and 9/10 is simply a seal of approval for gamers and not a accurate review score.

exactly. The AAA = +90 didn't really start until this generation, and honstly seemed to have started on some forums (like this one specifically). If you try to look up the definition of AAA on the web, almost every single source will point to what you are claiming, not the meta ranking.
