I've come to know this as the definition behind the term "AAA" as well. I mean, just go up to Square-Enix and tell them that Final Fantasy XIII (an 83 on MetaCritic) is not a AAA product. They'll probably tell you to go talk to Darth about it. And then you'll never be seen again.

As far as games that get the 90+ from the critics, I think Khuutra's term "MetaDarlings" fits the critical billing just fine.
