Since there is a few FPS games on the Wii, obviously ill buy TC2, besides i haven't finished the first one.

Umm ... every new game you make should be dramatically better than the last. There hasnt been an HVS game that people talk about like its Halo or Half Life. Or a game they made that has sold millions.

They just arent a studio with a proven track record of blockbuster high quality games.

Gaming history shows it doesn't work that way. And again, licensed games are not supposed to be improved from the last game by a studio. They are supposed to be on time.

They made licensed games. They weren't given two or three years of extra development like Rare was with Goldeneye.

They haven't made any games before TC that were supposed to be that anyway. Do you have any idea of licensed games versus major core games?



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Well, they did do "Hunter: The Reckoning" which has a metacritic of 79 (which probably would be higher if it didn't have a 30 in the mix...). Admittedly that was in 2002, and it's only one game, but the rest were licensed anyway.

TC is their track record, basically. Anything else is what's known as "paying your dues". This is where they actually start practicing making good games instead of just making them to pay the bills (of course games should do that, but before that it was the only reason).

Yes. I do have some knowledge of how the games industry is. I worked in the games industry. And every game we made had to be better than the last. Licensed or "major core".

Excuses can be made for anything.

The chances of Conduit 2 being better than the original are slim. I wont be buying Conduit 2 on the first day like I did with the first. But I will be watching the info on the internets.



1. It's not an excuse. I know the game isn't guaranteed to be better. I was just stating your claim that the lack of apparent improvement in their past games isn't a valid one since you can't just polish and perfect with licensed games. That they don't have much FPS is a good reason, but not the other one.

As has already been pointed out, licensed games - no matter who you work for - are quickly developed, often on a very low budget and are often given an immovable release date. A developer and publisher don't have the luxury of having the chance of producing a game better than their last one. It's a production line and a quick and easy earner, and that's why the vast majority of licensed games are a load of old bollocks lol.
