Probably a contestant for Alan Wake, but not for the graphical powerhouses.

What games would that be? From what Ive read ( obviously none of us here have played AW ) they say AW in it's unfinshed form in January is 'the' graphical powerhouse. No other game on consoles for example has done 4xMSAA. Some have used 4xMLAA, but that blurrs textures and is easier on a system to run.

Stupid to compare them both, their art style and gameplay(fast action vs slow adventure) are too different to be judged either artistically or technically. I'm not crazy about Vanquish, but you are comparing screenshots of a game that was barely announced and probably in an alpha production stage with one that is going gold in a few weeks time...doesn't make any sense to me.
And just saying...you guys are hyping up AW's graphics too much imo.

Well it's not just me, so dont single me out. :) "To be clear, none of the existing Xbox 360 games even compares to it, and even on PS3, which have more real exclusive titles, it's hard to find an equivalent. Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Crysis, these are the few games which can compete with it. Whether it's the real-time projected shadows produced by the essential flashlight (those were obviously missing in Condemned 1 & 2), the total absence of aliasing (720p 4x FSAA), the breathtaking realistic lighting effects, the huge size of certain levels, SSAO, the atmospheric effects, the humongous size of some moving objects, the vegetation which interacts with characters and wind, or the largely satisfying framerate (with a light tearing that should disappear in the retail version) and many other physical and graphical effects, Alan Wake never ceases to amaze you with relative ease." |
Are they the only people who have played this game? You keep quoting them in every thread. I have no doubt this game looks good, but from what i have seen, it still not better than a lot of games i have seen.

Very few hands on mention visuals at all. Heres another that bothers to mention visuals. Others just talk very little. IGN's for example gives such rubbish info about anything compared to Gamersydes Preview.
"With the game being based so much on the use of light it’s obviously pretty important that it looks good. In fact it doesn’t look good, it looks stunning. From the streaks of the smokey red flares to the way the torch light catches trees in the woods is pure eye candy. Even muzzle flashes and sparks from the shotgun look really impressive, and just wait till you get to see the flashbang grenades in action. Don’t forget, this is an early build too so even more polish will be going into the final product."

It looks nice, yes, but to the level of Alan Wake or Uncharted 2 or God of War III? I disagree.
Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!
Kojima: Come out with Project S already!
Technically it looks OK and the gameplay starts to look decent with the high-speed vibe its emitting... tough the storyline and character design is a disaster :|
