Forums - Sales Discussion - Why does everyone think Natal will be huge?

im interested to see what games can be played on natal. party minigames will be fun, but all else you need buttons

For someone who loved Heavy Rain, I'm surprised the first thing that popped into your mind wasn't ARI.

Granted, it was more of a user interface for processing case data, it's pretty easy to see how something like that could be used in games if correctly applied and if Natal actually works as smoothly as it's supposed to.

NATAL has potential if Microsoft really backs the accessory. Sony didn't do much with the Eye Toy and they didn't do much with the PS Eye either (that is until PS Move comes out of course. Since PS Move utilizes the PS Eye). If you create quality software, you have a chance at success. Sony didn't create much in the way of software for the Eye Toy and PS Eye (except for the PS Move stuff that's going to come out of course).

I'm quite skeptical with NATAL and PS Move. Controller-free gaming is for the most part uncharted territory so we don't know what to expect. Sony and MS barely did anything on that end with the Eye Toy, PS Eye and Xbox Live Vision. And the PS Move is going to be perceived by the general public as Sony riding on the coat tails of the Wii Motion control craze. If Sony concentrates on 'core' motion-controlled games like Motion Fighter, maybe they'll find success. Thing is, hardcore gamers generally don't have a positive view of motion controls. They prefer the tried and true gamepad. As a Fight Night fan for one, I can't imagine that Motion Fighter for eg. would be anywhere as deep as Fight Night. Motion Fighter might turn out to be fun but it won't be as deep as a boxing experience for sure. Boxing is a complex sport. Anywho, I don't see them competing with Nintendo when it comes to Nintendo's forte though (the so-called 'casual' motion-controlled games).

Oh and Microsoft should allow 18+ material to be released on their console. NATAL would be a huge hit considering the potential NATAL technology would have for that sort of thing. Including Japan (where the Xbox is weak). Moneyhat Maria Ozawa, make a CERO Z pornographic videogame starring her. Put her on the box. Only on XXXbox 369. Bundle that shit with a 360 Slim and NATAL. Xbox will sell out a gazillion times faster than it did when Tales of Vesperia debuted. Itagaki-san is a pervert and an avid Xbox fan. His new studio can head the project and Microsoft can publish.

The eye toy and Natal are not the same thing. Natal will have uses outside of the gaming realm in business offices right out of the gate so success is certain, but the gaming success is the real question of value. If Natal succeeds it will shape the way we look at gaming and set the standard as the next step.

from what I understand Ubisoft is requiring some all future games to use Natal... that's enough backing for me to jump in... no pun intended

I think that Natal will be more successful than the eyetoy because Microsoft knows how to market their products. They said that they are going to treat it like it's the launch of a new console so that lets me know that they are serious about it.

Microsoft also does a good job of supporting developers. They are keeping the game developers updated and they are also sending out kits so developers can start creating games for it. They are making sure that all of the major developers are creating games for it and most creators seem to be excited about the possibilities that Natal present.

With all of that being said I am still not sold on Natal or the Move from sony because I prefer playing with a regular 360 controller or a dualshock 3.

i doubt it will be very successful, it will see some success with the casual market but probably not hardcore gamers

no idea how to make this properly work

what natal is lack is a controller or some sort to go with it. I can bet consumers prefer to have something in their hands rather than nothing.

I'm quite keen to look into developing games for Natal, I've made a couple of games suitable for XBL and I'm looking forward to microsoft supporting natal in their XNA programming kit so I can make games for it (if they do).

Theres a few ways to hold an xbox controller in one hand so you could use it with Natal, maybe we'll see them releasing a 360mote with a wrist strap like the Wii/Move? Probably including some sort of accelometor sensor the same as sixaxis, wii remote and wii motion plus.
