1.5million copies and no profit???? That is lame
1) The game was extremely early in the system's life.
2) It relied heavily on legs.
3) I think bad management is a factor.

I think they expected way to much from a 4 hours long game. Hopefully they don't make the same mistake twice.

It sold most of them at a bargain bin price.

Eh, more than twice as many people worked on MGS4, and it was in development twice as long... pretty sure it's budget likely dwarfed Heavenly Sword's. |
Kojima has suggested that it wasn't that expensive to make.
I have to ask, WTH was the team doing? They had 2 years development time (IIRC) and a seemingly HUGE budget, yet they only managed to make a 5 hour long game? What the hell??

The MGS4 devs said they need to sell 1 million on day 1 to break even....they did that.
Ofcourse Heavenly Sword sold over 1 million over a looooong period of time.
@leo-j
Its sad for sure, but the game wasn't all that great.
All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey
It's too bad, I loved the game, and still think it has the best voice acting in a video game to date.
This had to have to do with the fact the game was in development for so long, switched platforms, etc. Otherwise, I can't see how they will make a profit with Enslaved, as I don't see it doing much better numbers and they have to fully develop it for 2 consoles.
