Forums - Nintendo - Why did Wii Play become such a big hit?

BTW, using metacritic to prove the game isn't appealing itself just shows you all still forget the mainstream doesn't have the same game tastes as game reviewers.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

$10 for tanks alone is a much better deal than 99% of PSN/XBLA/WW/VC games and on an amount enjoyed/dollar spent it compares to most retail games

I probably would have bought the game separately for $10 because its a NEW GAME for $10.

Heck, I bought Spy Games: Elevator Mission because it was $10.

And Wii Play is much more fun.

But it is true that it often sells to new Wii owners who want a second controller and can get a second game rather cheaply.

Still, it is a lot of fun. Comparing it to Combat is spot on.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

The Tank game is phenomenal.

Because it was bundled with a controller.... it scored 58 for a very good reason.

I'd sell our copy on ebay but it has no value..... I doubt you can even trade it in.

not true. It sells for $8-10 used on e-bay/amazon. If you sell it near Christmas you can get $12-13. Considering you are buying the game for $10 it actually goes up in value if you sell it at the right time of year. Gamestop sells it for $15.

I checked here too.. it is for sale on ebay (new item) for £7.95

so second hand value isnt worth the postage and you are probably looking at a £1 or £2 trade in then.

LOL, I bought it for $7 at gamestop. Partially because of my 10% discount for edge, partially because it was in october, and partially because the guy gave me a case with a cheaper sticker on it then the one I brought up. And I don't regret it either. I already had 4 controllers at launch, btw. :o

I hated wii play, but this article has a point

I love Tanks, but the rest of the package is really pretty mediocre. They should release Tanks standalone on WiiWare imo.

My dad picked it up and we hate the game but we needed an extra wiimote.

Nice points, but I still bought my copy for the controller and sold the game later. No one wanted to play it after the first time we played it.

I'm going to be honest. I wouldn't have bought it weren't a ten dollar game, but it is a steal for that price. Tanks and Laser Hockey are very fun.

I still have nightmares about Fishing though.
