Forums - Nintendo - The Conduit 2 Teased at GDC?

I for one welcome a Conduit 2. Unlike most people here, I didn't blindly fall for the hype the media created, and let animosity build because of it. I still can't believe people call Conduit a bad game, but consider Reflex anything other than a quick cash-in (2 year old) port.

Please no. The Conduit broke my heart with its lazy graphics and shitty singleplayer. HVS like Krome knows how to talk the talk, but can't create a quality product to save their lives.

There is a thing called getting better with practice. Not saying whether it will be better, just that you shouldn't assume these things are static.

Street Fighter 1 was a broken game, and we all know how II turned out.

The thing is HVS has been a developer for quite some time. If you mean Wii development then yes you are right. But I never heard a company promise so much and deliver such a mediocre experience. Had the Conduit come out of nowhere I might cut it some slack. But when the company tries to make it sound like the second coming and then delivers a  souless, artless, generic shooter it bends me the wrong way.

Being a developer doesn't meant they can make any game. Their history are licensed games, although of slightly better quality than typical for those.

I will give the hype, but even that is a lesson to learn.

Thats fair. I'm certainly not morally opposed to buying a game from them again if its good. What I meant to suggest is just that they have lost a lot of credibility with me and I certainly won't pre-order a game from them again without reading reviews first.

The things is if third parties weren't so stupid about the Wii (the Wii isn't somehow worth of actual effort only quick cash party games), they wouldn't have need to announce they were supporting the Wii with basically a fanfare of trumpets.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

It wasn't that. Ports don't work that way unless the original game was a quick cash in. Reflex required Treyarch to tune the engine even more than with World At War, and they even had to drop local multiplayer, which would have not been a problem if there had been little effort.

Besides, it's BS to assume time and effort actually relates to quality. Too Human sure as hell had plenty of those, and from all accounts, that didn't help the game.

Wtf HVS is doing with their games stop killing yourselves.

Not exactly the right place to bring up that issue. edit> oh yea, its in the background there. I didn't even notice it when i watched that a few days ago.

Good. Its clearly going to be cheaper to make and i guess they were ultimately happy with the sales.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Damn!! I haven't finished the first one...

The only thing, which I didn't like in the conduit was the cliffhanger ending. (I hate cliffhangers in general.)

And what's wrong if it came out on the PS360 as well? IF it ends up being a good game and the Wii version gets the attention it deserves, that's all that is really needed.

^Do you really think HVS has what it takes to make the game on three platforms and still make it quality?

I'm not even sure they can make it quality on one platform.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
