Forums - Gaming - I come not to praise Dante's Inferno, but to bury it.

Well, GoW3 comes out in a few days and I just beat Collection about 2 days ago so Dante's is pretty much out of the picture completely for me anyways, thanks for the information on Dante's. I'm really eager to play GoW3 after beating Collection lol.

Actually, in God of War, you HOLD R2 to open chests.

That is in God of War 3?  I remember mashing the R2 button to do open.

Unless they've changed it in the collection, it's hold even in the original.

You could be right with the original, though.

You had to mash R2 in Gow. I just played Collection recently, unless my brain is fried from allergies.

You open a chest by holding R2.

You open a door, however (the lift ones, which aren't very common in GoW anyway) by mashing R2. That really sucks, especially with an analog trigger. I think it changed to O in God of War II.

That's prolly it, the opening door with mashing R2 was one of the most retarded video game design I've witnessed when I first had to do it. In that case, Dante's just has retarded game play elements. They changed the door opening in 2 to that you press R1, then repeatly hit O instead, and they didn't just let the door open due to puzzle or timing reasons, but at least it was much better with O.

I will file it under bad game design.  When you don't know what is good vs retarded, and you go with retarded, because a popular game has it, you aren't designing well at all.  And I believe this is the problem with Dante's Inferno.  The designers of the game couldn't tell what wasn't retarded, that they had power to change, so they throw in the stupid, and likely make the stupid appear in more places.

I say whatever..... Darksiders, Dantes Inferno and GOW 3 all copied DMC and no one complained. If you play all 3 everything down to the mechanics is a rip off. All of those games have very little that they brought to the table let alone stealing old religious stories from DMC as well.

People don't understand how big of a rip-off this game is... I tried to tell them...but no...No one believed me..this thing copies GoW down to the T and therefore got fucked hard by the reviewers...

Or some people could care less and just want to play the game.

But GoW perfected the genre and remains at the top of the genre's ladder. The combos aren't that deep until you fully upgrade your weapons, yes..but the puzzles, the story, the epicness of it all and the overall presentation is so much better, imo. GoW is a better complete package.

IMO Bayonetta shits all over all of them so far in combat, but I like the epic presentation of God of War series, they are really nice eye candies, especially 3 so far from what I've seen.

and there ya go.... this ends the thread for me before Bayonetta DMC was the last evolution for the action genre.

Like my other replay, I believe Bayonetta has the best combat system yet in the genre, but God of War is improving(evolving) in it's own way so it's good as well.

don't hate on a good game, just because another game might be better.
