Everytime some one mentions how the Move is a copy of the Wiimote, it just makes them look silly BECAUSE IT OBVIOUSLY IS. Just like how Nintendo copied Phillips and Sony when it came to choosing a disk based format for the Gamecube.

Every company seeks guidance from older ideas, it's then up to them to improve the idea.

Thats something I never understand. Because the concept of motion control gameplay has been done before with the eyetoy. They even showed the wand back then but in a form of a stick with a big ball on top.

I don't know.

Is a Honda a copy of a Ford?

Non sarcastically this time. I think there are 2 schools of thought here: 1 is the "who came up with the idea first?" school of thought. In this case I don't know if we could ever really find out who came up with it first. The second is is Sony doing this to "cash in" in the Wii's success an try to make a grab at those customers, and the answer to that is a resounding "Hell Yes!"

The final thought on top of this is: Is it a bad/unethical thing? Of course not, just like Natal, anaolog sticks, bumper buttons, disk based games and any other thing before it; one company makes something popular then someone comes along and tweaks it to make it better. It's how the industry progresses and we should be damned thankful that they do it.

I really Don't know why so may Wii fans are upset, this is great for the Wii. With Sony ugrading to motion control and having third party behind it, you guys will be getting tons of support now. That's just big.

This . It goes both ways really...more ports from Wii > Ps3 should mean ports from Ps3 > Wii.....And probably a couple games worth playing in there.

This is something that I will believe when I see. It would be remarkable if an action on Sony's part can cure the incredible mental block that third party publishers have when it comes to the Wii. For three years now, the prophecies have been very self-fulfilled.

You can clearly see it ressembles a sextoy, the Wiimote does not.

yes but with big balls

: )

Yes and no.

Yes in that it consists of one or two motion controllers held in your hands with 1:1 motion control and a wrist strap, and it has a pretty much identical lineup.

No in that it has a coloured ball on the end.

In all seriousness, I don't see how Wii fans can call this a Wiimote ripoff and say it sucks in the same breath. It IS a Wiimote ripoff, that much is pretty clear. It's just a rather advanced Wiimote ripoff for use with an HD system.

That's the issue Kantor, Wii fans have been defending how great motion control is compared the HD console for years, remember how R4 was better on the Wii because of motion control. It's the innovation that changed the world, created new market, and now Stupid Sony copied it and made it just as good or better. It must suck then.

Now I expect :

1. it's too expensive

2. where are the games?

3. at least mine has Zelda and Mario

4. There is no room left in this vast casual market.

5. It sucks no matter how good it is.

Sony's been working on motion control for quite some time (remember the Eye Toy? and other applicaitons see this video)  and I think that the Playstation Move is a culmination of years of work in this area to try and bring something worthwhile to the table rather than a forced gimmick.  I've owned a Wii but could never understand Nintendo's adherence to dated graphics tech.  I can assure you there will likely be games from standout studios like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica Studios that will incorporate the Move and many of the naysayers may have to eat their comments and swallow their pride.

from 2004

There are minor differences and the Move is better from what I hear but it's essentially a Wii Remote knockoff.

And it may be better, but so far it sounds like it's better in a pretty minor way. It seems like almost anything you can do with Move you can already do with Wii and WM+.

It's the same thinking that the PS3 is more powerful than the 360. Yeah, it is more powerful, but they're pretty much the same.
