It's actually reall good business for them since they make their money on used games.

Preordering a game means they get money early and you're forced to come back to their store.  The coming back is the important part because then you're encouraged to buy used games which make them a huge amount of profit.  They don't really make a lot of money off of new games so why bother keeping a bunch of them around?

I still think a lot of you are mis understanding the reason 13 is on the 360 in the first place.

It's not there  to serve valued customers, It's not there because mircosoft wants to expand its genre division, It's just there because microsoft doesn't want you to need to buy a ps3.

What have they done? Paid for extensive advertising for the 360 version of the game, and paid for websites, gamestop and other publications including SE to keep the fact that its the vastly inferior version hidden.

now they are taking the retail plan. They massively overship the 360 version and when the ps3 version sells out from pre-orders you will not be able to get the ps3 version in NA for a few weeks while there will be hundreds of unbought 360 versions on shelves to continue to say "you don't need a ps3 for this"

It's all part of the plan. You should of pre-ordered if you wanted the ps3 version.

That being said, here in my small small town there were 160 pre-orders for ff13 at one store. I live in the middle of no where, nova scotia canada. 150 were PS3. 

This makes me very glad I got mine pre-ordered through Amazon for Release day deliver. I am watching the package now as it gets closer and closer to my doorstep.
Since I work for a living, I don't care that I don't get it till near 5pm, That is when I get home from work anyways.
Then again, I knew this game had clout on the PS3 and that is why I pre-ordered.
To me, not pre-ordering a game like this is akin to showing up to a Metallica/Ozzy/Jay-Z concert hoping to get a ticket at the box office,it is just not gonna happen unless you buy ahead of time.

If I as a customer know the game is on both systems and I see a large amount of copies of the game for only 1 system and none(or near none) for the other....im thinking to myself...why isnt anyone else buying the other version...whats wrong with it?...and I proceed to ask the sales clerk when they get more of the good one in.

So I just walked out of Toys R Us and typing this on my phone. I asked the guy if they had any copies of Final Fantasy XIII and he said yes, we have both. I asked him which one has been selling more today. He said the 360 version. He points at the shelf and says this row was full, now there is only 2 left. Then he points at the PS3 version. They had 6 left. He said for some reason that one isn't as popular. Then I see one FFXIII bundle on the shelf. I ask him if they sold a lot of those today. He said they had 4. Now only 1 left. Then he tells me that I get a $13 gift card for free if I get the game. Also if I buy the strategy guide with the game, the strategy guide will only be $13. So I pick up the 360 game and strategy guide.

When I heard him say that the 360 was selling more, it surprised the crap outta me. Then I got an erection and jizzed in my pants.

360 version seems to now be selling equally as well, local Future shop and best buy are now sold out of both copies. Can't wait to see the numbers, MS might get in on versus if this works out for them.

Nice if both version can be sold out, square will make more than enough money to justify working on a title that long.

Does anybody know how long gamestop keeps preorders b4 they sell them because I am just to busy to pick up my PS3 version b4 Thursday?

Lame, but I managed to order my CE first day anyway. GAME has all versions in stock, by the way... online, that is.
