Forums - Nintendo - Admitting that a game is hard...

Ok, I admit, I am having slight problems with Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles.  I have talked and wrote about this and noticed a trend...nobody is having difficulties with these games.  The majority of postings I read tell that those games are too easy and not challenging enough.  Ok!  I am not your typical teenage player. I am a mature player (38 years old), father and husband.  Maybe I'm to old.

Right now, I am struggling with umbrella chronicles.  God, there is a boss fight every 5 minutes.  Not that I hate it.  Far from it.  But I never get them the first time.  And for RE4, I am stuck.  Can't beat those infested at multiple places monsters.  And now...I cannot finish it!

I like games that are easier, like Resident Evil Shattered Memories, Cursed Mountain or Dead Space Extraction.

Anyway, just felt like sharing my thoughts.  Going to try again tonight...

Infested at multiple places monsters... what is that?

Well if your relatively new to gaming or a casual gamer(aka 90% of wii owners) of course it is going to be harder for you than some 18yo that has been playing all his life and plays 12hours a day.

You mean those spiky things that regenerate when you blow their limbs off? Regenerators IIRC.

You should find an infared gun sight so that you know where to shoot them. Check a guide and definately go back and get it if you missed it.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Nice to know the reasons these gaming elites are better than the casuals.

@OP. Well personally RE4:Wii was fun, but I would have liked a bit more of a challenge... (It is possible to play it with the GC controller, which makes it quite a bit tougher, but a lot more annoying as it's still not a proper survival horror like REmake, but neither is it a good shooter)

However, if you explain which bit it is you are stuck at perhaps we can help.

Sorry man. I had to laugh at the "Resident Evil Shattered Memories" part. Stupid me.

Anyway, you don't have to care too much either those games seem harder for you than for other gamers (specially young gamers). It's all about YOU having fun. And I don't know about you, but for many people challenging games are a good thing.

Any time I play a FPS or Uncharted 2 online I have to stand the fact that teenagers with stupid feminine voices really kick my ass very hard and laugh a lot about it. And hey! I thought I wasn't bad at all.

I'm stuck in RE4 too. I just suck at the quick time events needed to get past that sewer monster that you're suppose to freeze and then shoot (don't think I have powerful enough ammo to kill and can't live long enough to wait for the elevator). I've been debating selling it for some time but I did enjoy the game up to that point.

I'm in the same boat. I went from Colecovision to PC RPGs / FPS to Wii. I don't have some of the skills or reflexes of these teens and twenties who grew up playing console games. Nor the inclination or time to develop them.

But love the Wii for titles like Endless Ocean, Sam & Max, Silent Hill and many, many others.

Fire Emblem is a great game if you like strategy at all.   No reflexes required.

Surprised you found Dead Space easier.   Havn't played it though.   If it's not as difficult as RE:UC I'll consider getting it at some point.

RE4? Really?

try unlocking everything in F-Zero GX, thats sadistic

I agree with Umbrella Chronicles btw,
