Interesting, hopefully time fixes the problem for those that do not have a connection to the internet in their house.

time  I would bet would not do it..though strange thing's have happened..

I am now almost certain it is indeed a Bios check problem. due to the fact that the Mobo battery on the PS3 keep's the bios state no matter if the PS3 is on/off

thus even the developers debug unit's would indeed be effected by this.

I haven't been reading everything on this.  Is there anything that affects people not trying to connect to PSN?  There are some people who do not have connectivity to the internet in their house, and I am afraid Sony will have to set up a way to send CDs to those people.

you could still get the update by PC, but if worse come's to worst they would indeed have to send out a new UPDATE by CD if there is no connection to the internet at all

but yes many people can still surf the internet even with this bug , just no connection to the PSN.

My PS3 was bought in late 2008. 80GB, no backwards compatibility. Am I safe?

what's the series of your PS3?

because there is a list of unit's series that have not been effected acording to some people their unit's are working fine, though that may be they are still connected to PSN if they log out and try to log back in that may indeed effect them, that's why i asked the person in this thread who rebuilt their PS3 what happened after he put the PS3 back together since the Mother board battery was removed from the PS3 for a while that he stated that his PS3 is working just fine.

That's not necessarily true. I have the CECHA01 model and mine works perfectly fine. I stated a few post ago why I think it's working, but I'm not positive. All I know is that I can play games, get trophies, access the PSN store, etc...

what happens if you try to set the right date again?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

an my seriesa was hit though which also make's me think it has more to do with the Bios, because the unit's may be the same series but our Bio's on the mobo may not be the same. which could explain why some are working and some are not. have you logged off of PSN and than shut down the PS3 re powered on and than tryed to log back in?

I am not touching my 250gb slim until Sony officially confirm it's ok to do so and they are at fault if I do switch it on and it bricks etc.

it's the internal clock that's messed up and needs to be set again (inside the hardware).

people on PS fourm are claiming that reseting the hardware clock will fix this. They have even posted a tutorial video.
