Can somebody fuckin Xxplain this? is this related to the Heavy Rain patch? Ive been on PSN all day and haven't had any issues

no it has to do with psn and sony, i have never played heavy rain and neither have alot of people and still have the issue, its sony or hack or something, something is going down that we dont know about

Actually, the bug has nothing to do with PSN.  However, being connected to PSN can seemingly keep the bug from happening.

The bug is happening as a fault of the internal clock on the motherboard.

from wat? hows that possible without internet connection?

Like any electronic device of this kind (computers, console) theres a battery on the motherboard to keep the time running. But now im wandering: if the battery is scrap (like in my dreamcast, each time I start it, it ask me to select date and time) will it have the same consequences? lol

yupper's, no way around this, as with all PC computer's, Linux, Mac's And windows. if that motherboard Has a battery which sofar they all do.. battery goes out. than that's it., until the MOBO sattery is replaced..

I fixed my PS3's YLOD a few days ago and after I put it all back together and got it working again, it asked me for the date as if it had restarted. My PS3 is a 60gb model and it works perfectly fine. Also, I wasn't signed in when this occured. Anyone think that me fixing it may have been what kept it from bugging on me?

how long did you have power off of the unit why you were fixing it?

like for instance I sometime's take the BATTERY off the mobo's of the PC's that i am fixing, to reset the Mobo to clear the Bios back to what it was before unless the Bios was flashed that is..

here is a site that had a picture i had handy:

that's where the PS3's mobo battery is located

it affects offline consoles as well i see:P i get the error code on my ps1 classics and wipeout hd has been reduced to a trial version that can only play one map wtf???

Could someone with wipeout hd check if they have the same issue?

happy new year guys!

(Ps3's are now officially saying it's the year 2000)

This is unreal, well looks like I won't be turning my PS3 on any time soon. Damn. This is really going to hurt Sony unless they fix it, pronto. What about people who have never had their PS3 online? How will they get a fix without being able to patch it?

Mine is online, but there must be millions which aren't.

it's not automaticaly a virus, it could just be the PS3's MOBO Bios, and that it need's to be flashed to update the fix, ever wonder why they always ask you never to turn off the power while it's updating the firmware. if the firmware update has to flash the Bios of the Mother board of the PS3 if you turn the power off you could brick it!

this is inline with pretty much any computer. It happen's, though by making The Game console more complicated and alway's on like this with firmware updates.

the trade off is something unforseen can happen.

that's with any PC sometime's the Bios need's to be flashed, so this does not supprise me at all.

rememberyou have the search function to get an update for firmware of the PS3 you will still be able to get that, but like they say do not turn off the power, so if its stormy out don't take the chance if there is a good chance for the power to go out.

if durring an update and the power goes out, not talking about downloading , I am talking about the Install of the update. if the power goes out it could while the system is updating could brick the PS3.

According to numerous recent posts on gaf, CECHL model 80gb ps3s seem to be working just fine.
