They may have apologized a bunch for the Orange Box....but they also called the PS3 pretty much worthless several more times. And I mean...something like Uncharted 2 only cost $20M so the "too many resources to develop on PS3" excuse is a farce. They have NO reason to not make a PS3 game....and they don't do it. |
They don't have to develop for the PS3 if they don't want do and they don't need to justify themselves to anybody.

You want to look at companies that messed up on the PS3 look at Free Radical which no longer even exists after their PS3 exclusive Haze or all the other developers that took at bath on the PS3. |
....that game sucked. It would've happened on the 360, if they had the same aspirations for Haze as what the result of the PS3 version was. Or do you believe that if it was on the 360, it would've $5 to make, and Free Radical would be rolling in dough right now?

You're right, they don't have to. And they should've left it at that. But no, "PS3 gets the stepchild version of our game", "PS3 is worthless", "PS3 is a waste of time". Over and over again. If they aren't going to develop on the PS3, that's one thing. But to shit talk it, and all it's consumers repeatedly....it thus becomes a matter not of them having to justify not developing on the PS3, but rather, them just being assholes.
No other 3rd party has done so. Itagaki would never develop Ninja Gaiden himself on the PS3, but for years, did he call it shit? NO! He just didn't develop for it, end of story. Valve on the other hand? "Not only are we not going to develop on the PS3, but it's a POS also"

too bad the ps3 had nothing to do with FR going under and all to do with the company being bad developers.

Who knows, but what we do know is that they were hampered by the PS3.
Also I wonder how they felt when they heard this:
"We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that (developers) want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so then the question is, what do you do for the rest of the nine-and-a-half years?"

‘The PS3 is a powerful machine but a difficult one to get the best out of’, says Crytek UK’s Karl Hilton
Free Radical's Karl Hilton has acknowledged that the PS3 gave the developer a number of 'stumbling blocks' when creating Haze.
Speaking to Develop in an interview published today, Crytek UK managing director Karl Hilton admitted that Haze “had a lot of development issues which meant it wasn’t the game it should have been.”
“A lot of them were technical issues,” he said. “The PS3 is a powerful machine but a difficult one to get the best out of."
Hilton admitted that, in developing the PS3-exclusive FPS Haze, the studio “hit a few stumbling blocks”.
“We spent more time trying get the game running properly and less time to design the game properly,” he said.

Resource can be many things, it can be mineral, it can be vespian gas, it can also be money, and of course man power. So if you have some type of Valve Manifesto that proves Valve has resources just chilling that could've been put into PS3 development than show me...scratch that Who the fuck am I kidding. Valve is a company and no company lets their resources just chill in this day and age. Unused resource = potential money that's just sitting. Do you think Valve is really that stupid, to be so wasteful in a downward economy? If you say they could've hired someone look at Valve's tradition. They picked up the CS team after seeing how incredibly popular the mod was, they picked up the Portal team after seeing their senior college project. Valve doesn't just pick and choose they are very selective.
